Hey all,
I'm building a Charged Bolt Sorc right now. She's still very young, about
clvl 16. My question is: is a fully synergized charged bolt (lightning +
mastery maxed) able to cut things in late nm or even hell? I was planning to
halfway max chain lightning and go for a 10 pt + skills frozen orb as
backup.
Is it just my stupid mind or is there no other serious backup spell than FO
for a sorc? FB, Meteor, Glacial spike all suck when not synergized.

NM will certainly be quite doable, Hell a bit more difficult, but still
doable.
If you go Charged Bolt, I'd not put/waste points in Chain Lightning, but
keep the skills restricted to Charged Bolt, Lightning and LM: 60 pts
needed.
This still leaves you with quite some points to invest in a secondary
skill. FO is a very popular one indeed.

Blizzard's nice, and do not underestimate the freezing power of Glacial
Spike BTW. With about 30-40 points left after maxing CB + synergies, I
think you can also get a pretty nice Fireball and/or Meteor going (max
Fireball, 1 in FM, rest in Meteor).

Patrick.

The short answer is yes. A fully synergized CB is quite capable of killing
rapidly in hell mode, assume the targets aren't LI.

That is correct. FO is the choice for unsynergized backups.
