Frosties found on USWest

I went to join the normal mode agd game last night and found it didn't
exist, so I created it. A very short while later I had to quit (it was
4:30am my time, about 8:30pm PST), and I noticed that someone had left
a pair of Frostburns by the stash in the rogue encampment. There was
nobody in the game, so I picked them up in case the game hadn't burned
in and they got lost. If they're yours and you'd like them back, please
say so.

(If you don't want them back - thanks!!)

AH... fresh meat!!!!!!

In AGD games on west, the rule is as follows. Anything left at the stash is
up for grabs. If it is dropped away from the stash, someone is muling it.
This has led to Short's famous SBTSMF, or Standing By The Stash Magic
Finding. Depending on who is online and MFing, this can be QUITE profitable,
as I have seen IK armors and Doombringers left by the stash (oh yeah, that's
right.... I left me).

I think I know who they belonged too.  I logged in to check if anyone
was around, entered the AGD game but no one was in it.  A bit later a
person came in looking for some Frosties they'd dropped to move to a
different character but had gotten kicked off b.net and it took them 6
odd minutes to get back on.  Weird looking account name, had something
like "jelli" in it that I recall.

That would most likely have been the ill named JelloBiafraDk.

Many thanks, that's very kind of you - I do indeed play SC ladder. If
anyone sees Jello online please let him/her know that I have them, and
I'll try to return them. Due to the 8-hour time difference from GMT I
tend to be on West at unusual times like 2-3pm PST. So I may have to
give them to someone else in order to return them.

Thanks also to Mickey for the guidance on muling. The thing is, after
spending a week hanging out in agd games, I'm not convinced that
everyone knows about or adheres to this rule. I've seen many people
drop great stuff directly in front of the stash, and then come and pick
it up with another character half a minute later. So I've not yet dared
to pick anything up!

P.S. Some serious upgrading has been done to the net infrastructure
somewhere between London and silicon valley. When I first ventured onto
Bnet a couple of years ago, I could only play on Europe because my ping
times to west were up over a thousand, and East was little better. In
the past couple of weeks playing on west my ping has never gone over
300. Fun.

Well, *directly* in front of the stash isn't exactly the place, as you
can get people coming into the game with the item on their cursor as
they have no room in their inventory, then dropping it and coming back
with a different character that has room to pick it up.  More often if
the item is going to be "up for grabs", it'll be down closer to the
fire place.  But still, it's generally a good idea to ask before
snagging anything.

I've heard the same, that it's getting confusing in AGD games. The rule
always was that, if you're muling, you drop it *outside* of the 'square'
formed by the four corner walls around the fire. (The stash is in one of the
corners) Anything by the stash or fire is up for grabs.

I hope people get it together and go back to doing it properly, it's not
nice when misunderstandings occur.
