Mules in Hell: Travincal - Crazy, Meph - Easy!

Thread rating: |
Orion Ryder - 09 Dec 2005 16:43 GMT Damn I find it much easier facing off with the denizens in Durance 3 than a full house of Council up in Travincal.
1. Go to Trav and kill all the creatures in the village square.
2. Go to reflecting pools and open TP, return to town
3. Send mule through TP so he can take one for the team. (AAAAARRGGHHH!!)
4. Return to Trav and take on a pissed off council, pissed that you have the nerve to bring in a mule to their sweet town. Cast a Decoy.
5. Watch the merc die while you unleash javs.
6. Watch the valk die while you unleash javs.
7.Get chased down by 6 council and council minions and get AMP DMGED
8. Try to recast valk but won't recast because you are getting hit at the same time as you cast
9. Drink Full purple, actually two because your finger hits two keys, "2" and "3".
10 Finally get the valk recast. Cast Decoy.
11. Battle the council near the dead mule and kill them close enough to the mule so the mule will get credit.
12. Look at the garbage and crap that the council drops.
13. Revive the mule, merc, go to Durance 2 and look forward to a more peaceful confrontation with the durance 3 crowd and an even more peacful battle with mepf.
Have fun in Travincal folks!!

Now and then he gets taken out by the water watchers but very rarely. I make sure I have as many mages as I can (7, 1 hard point, the rest +skills) and try to revive any Heirophants I kill to shoot at them and keep their attention.
Freezealot is good too as anything coming within his 'sphere of influence' to attack the mule is slowed dramatically allowing me time to get to the mule and save it. Techniques learnt in HC. :-)

Virtual Den - 10 Dec 2005 17:38 GMT > Damn I find it much easier facing off with the denizens in Durance 3 > than a full house of Council up in Travincal. There was once a discussion about joining the two groups and it failed. I think you should crossposted to both NGs only if there is a major problem. As you can see most of the people only post to one group. I would not care usually but I would not want all the crap being posted by the Rev in AGD to be in AGD2. Feel free to post a message in each group but you are playing with fire by crossposting.

Virtual Den - 14 Dec 2005 21:54 GMT >> >> VD >> > [quoted text clipped - 9 lines] > > Mickey Go ahead I am waiting for some links. I will provide my own in a few days in a new post since I really not have the time to reply to all his craps. I come lurk from time to time in the two groups but I will make a little effort whenever his mini Mouths like it or not.You will learn how Mickey posted pretending being a Muslim. How he was cought cheating while flaming other people doing so or using Map hack. How Max signed Mickey at the end of a post. How he quitted Alt.roundtable NG when some posters did not like his bullshits and unlike here he does not have a mini team to support him.
When i think this guy call me a racist.. LOL. He so imbue of himself it is easy to search google for this WACO as the author with Arab, Muslim, Mexican, UN, Amnesty and the list is long. He attacked me with racist comments, I will retaliate. Do not think that I give up if I do not reply to all his bullshit and his little mini Mouths. I have a life and it is not worth to lose so much time for nothing at the end. This is why most of the time I never reply to many or not at all. Never take this as I give up. Still I will provide some links about Mickey at its best in a few days.
The mini Mouths should use your KF already and do not bother to post saying you do not care, I will do it. Old timers already know how this WACO is bulshitting all the time but new comers could believe all his craps. Just search Google group with Mickey as authour in soc.culture.israel and soc.culture.jewish to see the fabulous life this WACO has by posting thousand of useless craps. This multi-millionaire bragger, the best driver, the best bowler, card player, how he feeds these 40 poor south American children and the list go on and on. I will not create a flame war, I will only post the links and I will not reply at all. I really have no time for this little game of you suck, you suck more ... etc. It will also remind us some geat moments about the WACO. Did you say that Allah was great Mickey LOL, it is incredible how this guy can be a bullshitter. ;oP I forgot about your best friend Frank who plonk you in real life. It hurts a lot more than in a NG. He already told you you should stop smoking pot and he was tire of all your lies ;oP

Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade. However, I agree to a point, this is what I like to consider a 'family-friendly' newsgroup, as much as any newsgroup can be.
Hey rdude, be nice if you could tone down the language a bit. Beat them with intelligence rather than sink to their level. They've been there longer than you and it doesn't affect them any more, they're inured to it, in fact they enjoy it. Don't give 'em the satisfaction. :-)

Mickey - 14 Dec 2005 14:48 GMT >>>> VD >>> [quoted text clipped - 13 lines] > they > enjoy it. Don't give 'em the satisfaction. :-) And here I must disagree with you. Clarence Darrow, the famous lawyer who defended Leopold and Lobe, crafted the best reply to this when admonished by the judge in the Scopes/Monkey trial. He said there are so few words that the average person understands with perfect clarity that I will any which I know they do. There are few phrases that are as complete in their meaning and as universally understood as telling someone to simply 'f.ck off'. When appropriate (and in this case, it surely was), I have no problem with someone making use thereof. As to children reading it, I have never had a problem because I accept a few basic truths. The first is that an adult reads MUCH faster than a child, will get to that point in the thread well before they do and can simply close the window. The second, and FAR more relevant is that by the age or 7 or 8, EVERY child in the US of A not only has heard these words, they know EXACTLY what they mean. If you do not believe this, sit down with your 8 year old and, after making sure they know there will be no recriminations, ask them what bad words they know, and if they know the meaning of them. Unless you raise your children on a desert island, they know. They know because all it takes is ONE child in an entire school to know and soon the rest do as well. Anyone who seeks to deal with the issue of unacceptable language by playing ostrich with ones children is fooling themselves. Children WILL be exposed, that is as certain as sunshine. The proper way to deal with it is to explain to them that these are words that are not for use by children. This is something children have no problem understanding, as their lives are FILLED with things that can and are done, but NOT by them. Does your 8 year old drive a car? Does he/she smoke? Does he/she have a nice stiff drink after a day at the office? Do they watch R rated movies? No, of course not, but they DO know that all of these exist, just not for them at THIS stage of their lives. Language and the use thereof is no different, and those who attempt to make it so are fooling no one but themselves.

Language and the use thereof is no different, and those > who attempt to make it so are fooling no one but themselves. All very valid. I can swear to make your hair fall out. However, I really hate to devalue it by over-use. I had a mate who's every third word was 'f.ck'. All the time, you shoulda heard the guy, it was almost funny. However, a habit such as that, as well as wasting a lot of time saying 'f.ck' when you could actually me saying something interesting, getting a message across, robs you of something. I mean, what are you going to say when you need to exclaim, to puctuate a statement forcefully?
There's a time and place for everything IMO. I try not to swear in front of young children as it doesn't feel right. Simple as that.

Mickey - 15 Dec 2005 13:29 GMT >>>>>> VD >>>>> [quoted text clipped - 57 lines] > of > young children as it doesn't feel right. Simple as that. On this I agree. Overuse of anything numbs the sense to it. That having been said, judicious use thereof should never be under-valued. I rarely swear in public, although I do so privately like a drunken sailor. However, when I do chose to do so publicly, the effect is quite immediate, as people do not expect it from me and are usually caught flat-footed. As to young children, if any are reading this NG without parental supervision, and they are exposed to language not suitable for them, the problem lies not with he who used the language, but with the parents of the reader. This game is rated for children 17 and above, and even that is irrelevant. Any parent who allows their children unfettered access to the internet in general and UseNet in particular has abrogated their parental duties in no small way. All that aside, let us look at the reality of the situation. As I stated in my first reply, there is no language here that every 10 year old in America hasn't heard 500,000 times already. Far more troubling to me would be to have a child reading some of the bile and vitriol that this group has been exposed to from crossposting. Language is FAR easier to explain to a young child than is the type of hatred and racism that came though on those crossposts.

>Mickey This is the only point that I would argue. When my boys were younger, my youngest, at that time about 7, would inevitably pick out those words long before I'd gotten to them, since I was actually *reading* the post, and apparently he wasn't. You said something in a follow-up reply about parents who allow their children unrestricted access to the Internet and Usenet, but that fails to take into account the situation we were in, where we were all living in basically the same room and they were "reading" over my shoulder.
Of course, now that they are 19 and 17 and have both moved out (the younger is in a boarding school, basically) it isn't an issue with me anymore ;-)

Actually, it I really had this problem, I would write a filter that would move posts with offensive content to a separate folder for me to read at a time where kids were not around.

Actually, yeah, I probably could have tried that, except for two things: 1) Youngest Son has always been even more of an insomniac than I am. Before he started Elementary School, we used to fight about whether he had to sleep in his room or not, with the arguments usually lasting *long* past his bedtime. I'd finally fall asleep, only to find him asleep on the floor beside me when I'd wake up ;-) And 2) At the time, a mention of the problem was usually (but not always) enough to tone down the language in here for a while. It should be noted that I wasn't the only one mentioning it, at that time Celleste had the same problem. And 3) There is no 3 ;-)

All this expressing of negative energy isn't good for the Chi you know. :-)

PC-related stuff.
*******************
I've Installed Windows (XP Pro) onto a 5GB partition (with the next partition on the drive being a 2GB, FAT32-formatted pagefile partition, FAT32 having less overhead than NTFS, is that little bit faster, important for a pagefile). All my programs get installed on their own partition.
I recently came into a few bucks (Thanks for the Xmas present Mum <g>) and bought a DVD-RW DL drive. Now, using Norton Ghost (the only Norton product I'll use and then I'd prefer Acornis True Image if I could afford it) I ghost my C: partition to DVD-RW about once a week or so (OE store folder is situated on F: drive, my programs partition). I bought a packet of 5 DVD-RWs so have a rotating back-up system where I always have the five most recent back-ups. I over-write the oldest one when it's time for a new back-up.
Hopefully re-installs of Windows is now a thing of the past. It's not that the reinstall of the OS takes all the time, it's configuring it to my liking and then having to re-install all the programs as their registry entries need to be written. A fresh re-install can take the best part of a few days to get everything running the way I want it. Restoring from an image should take about a half-hour. :-)
In fact, I may make a back-up to DVD-R about now, so I will always have an "older" image, just in case things get too crazy later. I'm not one who installs and uninstalls lots of things but, over time, the registry can get a bit cluttered. It might pay to have an image of a relatively fresh install with all my core applications (like D2, heh) already installed.

Ok, digression over. I found a Kira's guardian the other day. Only 50% res all but I'm sure it'll come in handy. The resists alone aren't a completely compelling reason to keep it, especially as they are the worst you can get on a Kira's. However, combined with CBF and 20% FHR it could have it's uses, mainly as a 'swich' item, or battle gear. I'm thinking it would be good for anyone soloing UT without the benefit of Salvation.

That is the day of the month that my reminder pops up and I do my killfile review. 14th of every months is when I review my contact list.
My wife is still trying to figure out how someone who is a slob on the order of Oscar Madison can keep a computer as clean as mine is :))))

I was a liitle surprised that you would request me not to post to both groups. I tried to be humble and beg for forgiveness in a humorous manner. Apparently despite my having read your posts throughout time I missed the friction that exists between you and some of the other posters. Oh well. I am sure it will fade through time.
I'm not gonna let the "you-know-who" keep me from posting to both groups, both in which I have friends. I just ignore the "you-know-who" despite no killfiling or filtering the posts of the "you-know-who".
You know how it is. You have some friends and you have to talk with them. That's really what this is all about.

Orion Ryder - 13 Dec 2005 14:25 GMT Come on,... let's get real. Myself personally, I never witnessed this from you before at least in the threads where our paths have crossed..
Maybe I missed the friction that exists twixt you and others, but there is no reason for you and I to be at each others' throats.
What say we bury the hatchet?

He's been in just about every killfile on UseNet at one time or another.

Orion Ryder - 13 Dec 2005 15:45 GMT I take your word on it.
Does this mean that his attitude concerning me is going to worsen once I reveal that I am 1/8th jewish?
And 100% American?
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
And I say everyone should listen to the newst version of "The Hannukah Song" which I just heard this morning. Couldn't tell if it was Adam Sanadler again singing it, but that was sure one great piece of music!!!!
Hey Mick, how about if you and raise have a private toast and raise a glass of Gran Marniay-onica?
Cheers

His rendition of Werewolves of London is at least as good as Zevon's original :)

Sometimes, albeit not often, the best way to deal with something or someone is to simply ignore him/her/it. I could think of no greater punishment for VD than to let him live out his hate filled life. Sometimes, a death sentence is the EASY way out.

I suggested you to stop crossposting but I am not a moderator and these groups are not moderated so at the end you do what you want. You replied what I thought was in an arrogant way but you said it was humor so I may have misunderstanded you. I would still prefer you stop crossposting but I will not jump at your throat :). It is true I was pissed off by your "cought" humorous replies. As you can see I have been attacked with racist comments from two AGDer not long after and it is this kind of behavior that can infect AGD2. I did not crossposted the few replies I made to them in AGD2 or imagine the disruption. So you do what you want and I did not bother you even more when I saw you continued to Xpost. You should ask yourself why there are two AGD groups though. So if I ever reply to one of your messages, I will simply remove one of the two groups in the header.
