[Where they wen to snipped]

Nice count, and at least you've found one of all. ;)

Yesterday-evening I 'fetched' my 3rd solo Torch (and 4th I collected the
keys for). To list all 4 of 'em:

1st (which I was helped with all the way by Jaakkeli) was a very nice
~18/~19 barb torch, which I traded for a low-mid Sorc Torch.

2nd was a low ~11/~14 Sorc Torch, which is still on a mule, saved until I
build a 2nd Sorc, also using the Tal's Armor I found when running
Nihlatak.

3rd was a ~11/19 Druid torch, which I'm still trying to trade for any type
of Amazon or Assassin torc (which I actually have a use for).

4th, collected yesterday-evening, was another bloody Druid torch. This
time a medium ~14/~15 one. Should I build a Druid? If so what, perhaps an
Elemental dude... I'll see about it.

My 4th Torch/3rd solo run went best of all and totally according to plan:
Treachery's Fade triggered pretty quickly, didn't forget to swap back to
Duress and cast HS, and went in. Counterclockwise probing, Mephisto came
zooming out: Bang-bang-bangity-bang, he's dead. Out to refresh, back in,
and Baal comes running along: Bang-bang-bangity-bang, dead too. Out and in
again, and Diablo: this was a bit tougher, because by that time quite some
minions were gathered around him, including at least 6 or 7 of those
quadraply immune Pit Lords. Anyways, kept Smiting away, and he died pretty
quickly. I then kept on smiting those Pit Lords and took all of them out,
until I was left with a few of those Vampire physical immune dudes. I
can't smite these, so I ran back via Diablo's death-spot, picked up the
Standard and the Torch, and out.

But another Druid Torch. Perhaps I'll try offering 2 Druid Torches for 1
Assassin Torch (I could use one of those most).

Also, I don't really see a way of taking out those physical immune vampire
minions...

I also didn't re-hire and re-equip my merc, yet. I'll save that for the
next type, since I'm trying to acquire an ethereal 5 socketed elite
polearm to put Obedience in.... Will probably also re-hire a Defiance
merc, because it's not the offensive power I lack, but the defense to
resist them.

Regards,

Patrick.

A question for you, Ash... would you still be playing the game if the
torch collection mini-game wasn't in place?

Okay, that's all for me for now... I'm sick of wading through junk
threads trying to find the D2 content.  :-(

Heh, just occurred to me that with the state of affairs these days in
AGD, this might be construed the wrong way.   I wasn't referring to
your thread as a junk thread, Ash.   Congrats on your torches.  :-)

Hear, hear.

If you feel sick sorting out the good posts, then I have to feel
triple-sick from doing the same.  After leaving the AGD scene for some
time, I do not recognize any new names here.  Besides yourself, Hammy,
I only recognize Whitedog and ~misfit~ on this entire Google page as of
this time of writing.  (Only last poster is displayed on Google).

During the long holiday weekend, I borrowed Tae's Chantress and
Misfit's necroes to trudge around in B.net.  Btw, I'm sorry for
depleting your Chantal' gold supply, Tae.  I still managed to get a
level and did not touch the stat & skill.  If Jabber were there, he
would have felt threatened by my number of deaths.  Are you still
around, Chris?

Sometimes I wonder why we are still here and not simply move to AGD2.
(Please don't start the "Can't have the bad guys win" speech).  For me,
I didn't know about the existence of AGD2 until much later :(  Heck, I
didn't even know this game was called Diablo II when I first played
over year ago.  I typed "diablo" in www.deja.com and was brought to
this group.  Been here ever since.  AGD2 is not infested by
nincompoops, so why are you folks not moving there?

Last but not least, hi Shari, it was nice meeting you the other day.
Kaytie told me your posting name, but I forget what it was :(
And hi Jay, also nice to see you.  I forgot your posting name as well
:(

The moron responsible for it posts on whatever groups Mickey posts on,
that's why he's here. If Mickey moves to AGD2, so will the morons.

Well yes, that's exactly what I was asking, Shif.  Why don't you and
all the other fine folks at AGD just simply move to AGD2?  I would move
to AGD2 myself, but then if you and the others are staying, then I'll
be sad and lonely :(  On a quick Google search, I see that some are
already moving / cross-posting to AGD2, where they had never done
before, at least not that I know of when I was an active poster (and
player) a year ago.  So that's great, IMO.

Taking a step back does not necessarily mean surrender.  It gives us
better visibility toward the open field ahead and help making our next
decision.  From my point of view, it looks logical for us to make this
move.  Let the ding-dongs continue their worthless discussions among
themselves.  It is afterall one's nature to seek companions of similar
level.  The rest of us, who are clearly above them, need not to mingle.

The trolls have been posting in AGD2 of late as well, at least they were a
while back.

They stopped because Mickey doesn't post there.

Ahh, Ok. I wouldn't see them as I have them kilfiled. I only saw responses
earlier, not the original posts.

Cheers,

Well, the whole torch quest did give me something to aim for this
ladder season.
Still, I suspect I would have still been playing, if maybe not as
consistently.  I've still got a number of builds to try out.  Poison
zon.  Poison necro.  Now that I've got an IK barb I might try the IK
Sorc as well for myself.  Haven't gotten around to making a
beastmaster druid yet either.

So, I think I'd still be playing, but would likely be going off every
now and then to play some old games.  I brought a 2nd hand copy of
Civilisation 2 ages ago and haven't gotten around to playing it yet.
And it's been a while since I've played Age Of Empires 2.  And I had
the thought today even of installing Might and Magic 2 and playing
through it just using what clues I find in the game, rather than using
what I can remember.  Sort of make it more like I'm playing it for the
first time.  And some nice mindless Quake3 death match or Unreal
Tournament probably wouldn't go astray, though my newer mouse may not
be the best for it as it's fairly heavy as mice go.

And WoW does still peak my interest every now and then.

My kill filters are earning their keep.  I don't see all that much of
the junk.

Or you could stop playing *spit* softcore and play like real men do :)

Congrats on the torches.

But I like dying!  There's nothing quite so satisfying as going back
and beating the crap out of the monsters that managed to kill you.

Yuo can do that in HC, it's just that you have to use a different
character.
