There seems to be new faces in the WSCL AGD games.  No, not just new to
me, I have asked several old-timers and they do not recognize these new
faces either.

If you just join the AGD, welcome! :)
It is a good idea for you to introduce yourself.  The same with those
who have joined for some time but never really introduce self.  This
way, we'll know who you are and know what to call you.  Wouldn't you
prefer, "Hey Ann/Bob/Chad/Donna/Etc, do you want this +1 orb?" instead
of, "Hey sorc, want a +1 stick?"

If you create a post, that's great.  Let us know your name (some people
use account names, real names, or just made up names, whatever it is to
let us address you), your account name (if different than your posting
name), your current active characters, and which server/mode you are
playing on.  Note that most people in alt.games.diablo play in the
USWest server, Softcore Ladder.  Don't forget to check our neighbor at
alt.games.diablo2 if you are playing in a realm/mode that is not
popular here.

If you don't wish to create a post, then please introduce yourself when
you join a game.  Again, be it your real name, made up name, or your
account name.  The next time you join a game, you may want to introduce
yourself again, so people will remember who you are.

The following thread is useful regarding "item & muling rules" in
agd/agd game.
http://tinyurl.com/6jxe9

We are generally friendly and generous to strangers.  We are likely to
give free items to anyone even if we don't know them.  We are MUCH MORE
likely to give free items if we KNOW you.  We have a communal mule, of
which the items are available to anyone who plays in AGD West SCL
games.  Ok the items in the communal mule are still crappy, but it will
get better later on.  Mid of last season, it was not uncommon to find
things like Mavina armor, Trang belt, Eschuta's, etc.  One etiquette
you must observe is some of us do NOT like beggars, don't go to AGD
games and say,
"Anyone got any free items for me?"
"Can you rush me sorc?"

If you must ask for help, address it politely, for example,
"Would you happen to have an extra armor that is better than my
Isenhart?"
"Any chance you can give me the Travincal WP?"
"Could you help me with my Ancient please?"

People here are VERY likely to help you if you ask them politely AND if
they know you.

If you are playing a co-op game, there is not quite a fixed rule
regarding item sharing.  Usually whomever needs it most gets to keep
it.  When more than one person needs it, then other people have
different opinions on deciding who should keep it, some believe the
quester, some believe the rusher, some believe the one with most MF,
some believe the one who delivered the last hit, and *very few* believe
whomever picked it up the fastest.

Finally, most of us do not condone the use of any third party programs.
Asking about any of them will get you flames at best.  One exception
is the ATMA muling program for single player.  Several people
(including myself) tolerate others who use Maphack, but if you do use
one, please keep it to yourself, just quietly pick the path at Arcane
and there is no need to brag that you know EXACTLY where Summoner is.
Other 3rd party programs, as far as I know, are frowned upon and not
welcomed in our games.

I'm Alice, account name *VioletStar, currently playing an Orb-Ball
sorceress.

Good luck and have fun :)

P.S. If you don't already know, our game names are:
Difficulty: name/pass
Normal : agd/agd, agd2/agd, agd3/agd, ...
Nightmare: agdnm/agd, agdnm2/agd, agdnm3/agd, ...
Hell: agdhell/agd, agdhell2/agd, agdhell3/agd, ...

I think for HC games, add "hc" (without the quote) before the number.
For Non Ladder, add "x".

We do not have a channel to hang out and chat.  We used to have a
public chat agd, but due to lack of interest, the channel bot was taken
down by the owner.  There is a public chat mickey (Mickey is a long
time resident and helpful contributor, just ignore his political /
flames posts), where some of us hang out.  However this is Mickey's
personal channel, you are a guest in his house if you enter this
channel.
EvilBill - 17 Aug 2005 06:34 GMT
Well, my account names all start with 'evilbill' so everyone knows who
I am when I join a game :)
At least, those who knew me from 1.09 and 1.10 *g*

Excellent and timely post Alice. I've seen people in AGD games recently and
have no idea who they are and they don't talk.

<cough> Yeah, unfortunately I seem to end up playing with those very few.
;-)

That Spirit Shroud that dropped from my kill the other day would have been
handy. I didn't realise I had to run and grab it quickly.

I remember when we were playing with Kaytie and she hadn't been on long and
an HoZ dropped from The Infector of Souls. She was the only one playing a
Pally so it was "Yours Kaytie" on screen, the shield stayed on the ground
until well after she said "Wow! Thanks". That's the way it should be, and
most often is when people know the other people they're playing with.

I can remember this incident too! That's the spirit.

I still believe that Kaytie has the most luck when it comes to drops
:-) Mickey has had his Sweatshop :-) (j/k)

She does indeed.

So I hear. Don't be a stranger huh? Maybe even fire up LOD and have a go on
the new ladder?

Actually I've just realised something. That was the day that my luck started
the big downhill slide and Kaytie's rocketed up. A seminal moment it would
seem. Actually IIRC I had a pally in there that day as well hitting the
Infector along with the rest of the crew but mine was already HoZ-equiped so
the natural thing was to offer it to Kaytie. Unfortunately it seems in
hindsight that a lot of my luck went with it.

:-)

That was last ladder, this one I'm feeling really lucky!

Hi,

> That was last ladder, this one I'm feeling really lucky!

I guess I've snatched some of the luck. In less than 10 NM Countess runs I
got one SHAEL, two AMN, a HEL and several others.

The second AMN happened just after I made the EDGE crossbow for my
Enchantress..

Cool! I'm lacking runes ATM despite having rushed six mules (and my necro)
through to their NM hellforge. I've only got one AMN and I used that in my
necro's Spirit Crystal Sword. No SOL whatsoever so far, or KO.

now that you mention a necro and a SOL - on the last run she dropped
UME's Lament and a, err, SOL...

Now I just need a 4os sword and polearm - got all the runes for Spirit
and Insight.

Conga rats.

I had a 4 socket Bill I was keeping for an Insight but figured it must be
bad ju-ju as no SOL's were dropping so I gave it away last might. I could do
with one for Lore too, I have a 2 socket War Hat. Maybe I should give that
away too?

I have a SHAEL, three DOLs, three HELs, two IOs, three LUMs and a FAL but no
SOL so far and only the one AMN, used already.

Might have to do some NM Countess runs. Hell would be too slow with my necro
but my Freezer-dude is in act 1 Stoney Field NM and is killing with aplomb.

Eww, yuk. Cap/War Hat/Shako are ugly. If you're going to make a Lore, use a
Circlet.

Aesthetics don't come into it mate. I have a  2-socket Circlet as well. The
War Hat is 50 defence, the Circlet 22. War Hat has a level requirement of
22, Lore is 27. No-brainer really. But, yeah. Ugly. For maximum defence/no
level requirement problems a 2 socket Grim Helm would be number one choice.
Defence up to 125, level requirement 25. Alas, I don't have one. That's even
uglier than a Circlet.

well, I've been posting here and in agd2 for quite some time, but only
started playing ladder this new season.. Softcore only.
Well knowing that people from here are honest and generous, I only play
in agd games.

My current accounts are *OUUCHY and *OUUCHZ and I'm sporting a level 24
barb (called BarbOuuch) and a level 42 Enchantress (Ouuchy).

I still find it difficult to match account names and names from agd, so a
list will be very helpful..

Thanks to donations from agd people, my Sorc now has a Duriel's Shell
(and really, really loves it) and can finally run (err, crawl) the
Countess for runes and stuff. She already found the Mahim-Oak Curio
Amulet and the Tannr Goreroad (or somesuch) for her prayer merc.

Most of my chars have *ouuch* in their name.. The name is from Diablo 1
times, where I always had to cry OUCH! when somebody hit my figher with a
fireball - so I grew tired of this and called my chars OUUCH..

CU around,

Oliver
EvilBill - 17 Aug 2005 22:45 GMT
Well mine are *evilbill-agqx, *evilbill-agqx2 and *evilbill-agqx3 (the
latter two all non-ladder chars now). :)

I've already been recognized by some people, but I like the idea. So...

I'm Sjoerd, my account name is Sjoerd1. I expect to add Sjoerd2+ as time
goes by (so much for creativity). All my characters have names prefixed
with SJH_.

I've played quite a lot on Europe when I first started playing (during
1.09, don't remember how long ago :-P ) and quite a bit on USWest as
well. I made a brief comeback for 1.10, but didn't really like it. So
far I've enjoyed myself in 1.11 and I think I'll be around until early
september. After that I might play a bit when time allows.

I'm hardly new,as I've been around since D1 days (Google tells me my
first posts here were in September 1998, for those of you who remember
last millennium), but my connection does not support 15 skellies, three
snowstorms, an unkindness of ravens, and 23 flayers all moving at once,
so I've not been playing much co-op lately.  I did try a few HC games
with Ruben, Orion, Bongo, and friends, but I'd freeze up every time we'd
meet a large crowd.  Boo!

I've been playing mostly solo HC, because I find HC much more fun, but
between lag and stupidity I've never finished the game soloing HC
(actually, it was ALL lag, ALL OF IT!!!).

This week my wife (who is working at the moment, and I am not) decided
that paying bills online was too slow and we needed DSL.  YAY!  I'll see
you all next week, just to be testing the networking equipment, you
understand.

Softcore, I've been -Tymme- since D1 and -Tymme- I remain.  In HC I'm
TymmeRMortis.  Most of my characters have Tymme in the name, except for
EmmaPeel, ShuraYukiHime (a no-prize if you recognize that name), and
LittleMissDeath, the nice assassin ladies.

Bring on Serenity!

Good idea, I seem to recall now that someone did this after the 1.10
patch as well.

Joel
Sebring7  (account)
Tam-Ara    (Orb-Ball Sorc, 24, will be my MF)
JHL_Mule[1-6]    (mules)

I can attest to the friendliness and generosity of the AGD regulars.  I
was even pelted mercilessly by two of the premier regulars (unnamed to
preserve their peace and quiet) one time with  offer after offer to give
me stuff.  That was either 1.09 or early 1.10, forget which.  Finally
buried so deep in stuff I had to pick some of it up to be able escape
the pile.  I don't think I have ever asked for anything, guess I am one
of *those* people.  :)

I don't get much free time to play and it is usually in small amounts
(i.e. 30 - 60 minutes, maybe 6 - 8 hours a week) so I tend to keep a low
profile and run by myself virtually all of the time under games named
jhl/agd, jhl1/agd, and so on.  Slow going but most of the time that
isn't a bad thing.  In all honesty I would become a regular if I thought
I had the time to really contribute but I don't see that happening due
to RL.

I do pop in to the agd games (only normal at the moment of course) and
drop stuff most every time I am on though and pop in to Mickeys chat
channel occasionaly.  MasterAtArms busted me last week for trying a
channel command on the channel without being a regular, sorry, been
awhile and I forgot.  :)  On a side note, does anyone mule the stuff
from the agd?/agd games or is there just too much stuff being dropped?

My only claim so far in the 1.11 season is that I opened the very first
agd/agd game after the reset, which filled up fairly quickly.  Had to
bail out after Tristram to pick up my grandson due to an emergency on my
daughters part.  My only party game so far.  Probably will be some more
down the road.

I've never had to use my killfile before either (well, not for several
years), and I just checked.  I've got forty penned up in my killfile, and
still growing.  I have totally lost patience with those clowns.  ANY
crosspost, except between AGD & AGD2 now gets killfiled, unless I recognize
them as a regular AGD/AGD2 poster.  Very peaceful reading now  :-)

At home I use google, and I HATE it that it has no killfile, at least none
that I can find.   For some reason, I never bothered to set up e-mail or
news on either of my home ISP's

I've done exactly the same thing. I'm *really* pleased that our regulars are
no longer replying to the posts, replies are what keeps them coming back. If
we all totally ignore them they'll stop crossposting here once the current
(or maybe next lot of) threads stop. Even replying to anything crossposted
here and taking AGD out encourages them to add it back in. In this situation
it's best to ignore those threads completely, no matter how inflaming they
may be. They have no place here so don't dignify them by even reading them,
yet alone replying to them.

I find that strange. I have major issues with Google's interface and lack of

Actually, all the cross-posts here originate with the idiot Rev.
Radavich is fixated on me, and will follow me anywhere I go. I think it
is hysterical that he is still cross-posting to AGD in spite of the
fact that he has been KF'd by every last reader here. It only serves to
prove just HOW sick his need for attention is, and how obsessed with me
he really is. I use google now and again just to see how many x-posts
he's run up. If you all want to have some fun, take him out of your
killfile and foreward a copy of EVERY post he makes to
abuse@onetel.uk.net, just to give his ISP a hobby :)

Something stuck in your throat there son? I posted a joke, one of his
rants which I found funny. The fact that other came behind it and
turned it into a political flame war doesn't alter what I posted and
why I posted it. Plenty of people post things they find humorous here,
I did no different.

C'mon Mickey, we've both been here long enough to know each other better
than that. I'm not shy about saying what's on my mind or expressing a
controversial opinion. I was just trying to be discreet and subtly refuting
your statement, out of respect. But if you want me to come right out and say
it, fine.

> I posted a joke, one of his
> rants which I found funny.

It was not a joke, it was a political diatribe that mirrors your own
political views. There was no humor involved, it was purely political.

"A brief overview of the situation is always valuable, so as a service
to all Americans who still don't get it, I now offer you the story of
the Middle East in just a few paragraphs, which is all you really need.
Don't thank me.I'm a giver. Here we go:
The Palestinians want their own country. There's just one thing about
that:
There are no Palestinians. It's a made up word.
Israel was called Palestine for two thousand years. Like "Wiccan,"
"Palestinian"sounds ancient but is really a modern invention.
Before the Israelis won the land in war, Gaza was owned by Egypt, and
there were no "Palestinians" then, and the West Bank was owned by
Jordan, and there were no "Palestinians" then. As soon as the Jews took
over and started growing oranges as big as basketballs, what do you
know, say hello to the "Palestinians," weeping for their deep bond
with their lost "land" and "nation."

So for the sake of honesty, let's not use the word "Palestinian" any
more to describe these delightful folks, who dance for joy at our deaths
until someone points out they're being taped. Instead, let's call them
what they are: "Other Arabs Accomplish Anything In Life And Would Rather
Wrap Themselves In The Seductive Melodrama Of Eternal Struggle And
Death." I know that's a bit unwieldy to expect to see on CNN.
How about this, then: "Adjacent Jew-Haters."
Okay, so the Adjacent Jew-Haters want their own country. Oops, just one
more thing. No, they don't. They could've had their own country any time
in the last thirty years, especially two years ago at Camp David. But if
you have your own country, you have to have traffic lights and garbage
trucks and
Chambers of Commerce, and, worse, you actually have to figure out some
way to make a living. That's no fun. No, they want what all the other
Jew-Haters in the region want: Israel.

They also want a big pile of dead Jews, of course-that's where the real
fun is-but mostly they want Israel. Why? For one thing, trying to
destroy Israel-or "The Zionist Entity" as their textbooks call it-for
the last fifty years has allowed the rulers of Arab countries to divert
the attention of their own people away from the fact that they're the
blue-ribbon most illiterate, poorest, and tribally backward on God's
Earth, and if you've ever been around God's Earth, you know that's
really saying something.

It makes me roll my eyes every time one of our pundits waxes poetic
about the great history and culture of the Muslim Mideast. Unless I'm
missing something, the Arabs haven't given anything to the world since
Algebra, and, by the way, thanks a hell of a lot for that one.
Chew this around and spit it out: Five hundred million Arabs; five
million Jews. Think of all the Arab countries as a football field, and
Israel as a pack of matches sitting in the middle of it. And now these
same folks swear that if Israel gives them half of that pack of matches,
everyone will be pals. Really? Wow, what neat news. Hey, but what
about the string of wars to obliterate the tiny country and the constant
din of rabid blood oaths to drive every Jew into the sea?
Oh, that? We were just kidding.
My friend Kevin Rooney made a gorgeous point the other day: Just reverse
the numbers. Imagine five hundred million Jews and five million Arabs. I
was stunned at the simple brilliance of it.
Can anyone picture the Jews strapping belts of razor blades and dynamite
to themselves? Of course not. Or marshalling every fiber and force at
their disposal for generations to drive a tiny Arab state into the
sea? Nonsense.

Or dancing for joy at the murder of innocents? Impossible.
Or spreading and believing horrible lies about the Arabs baking their
bread with the blood of children? Disgusting.

No, as you know, left to themselves in a world of peace, the worst Jews
would ever do to people is debate them to death.
Mr. Bush, God bless him, is walking a tightrope. I understand that with
vital operations coming up against Iraq and others, it's in our
interest, as Americans, to try to stabilize our Arab allies as much as
possible, and, after all, that can't be much harder than stabilizing a
roomful of supermodels who've just had their drugs taken away.
However, in any big-picture strategy, there's always a danger of losing
moral weight. We've already lost some. After September 11 our president
told us and the world he was going to root out all terrorists and the
countries that supported them. Beautiful.

Then the Israelis, after months and months of having the equivalent of
an Oklahoma City every week (and then every day) start to do the same
thing we did, and we tell them to show restraint.
If America were being attacked with an Oklahoma City every day, we would
all very shortly be screaming for the administration to just be done
with it and kill everything south of the Mediterranean and east of the
Jordan. (Hey, wait a minute, that's actually not such a bad id . . . uh,
that is, what a horrible thought, yeah, horrible.)"

You're a highly intelligent person Mickey, and quite sophisticated. To post
this and then claim to be surprised that it provoked a political
discussion/flamewar is, to put it kindly, disingenuous.

You can repeat this as many times as suits your needs, but it was what
it was, his weekly rant, which he did on his show, which was intended
as humor.

I never claimed I was surprised, please do not put words in my mouth, I

did not post it to incite a flamewar, I posted it because I thought it
was funny as hell, and oh by the way, I still do.

Yes it is EXACTLY accurate. I posted NOTHING here off topic in a dogs

Nope, you all are the victims, I have him killfiled for 3 years now. Of

LOL. Not a political post and not intended to start a flamewar. Now that's a
funny joke.

This is precisely why I reposted it in it's entirety. I doubt anyone but you
will see it as apolitical.

Dennis Miller does do comedy. But he also does political commentary. I'll
leave it to the other readers of AGD to decide for themselves where this
piece lies.

Alice's comment that you are a very helpful and knowlegable poster is spot
on. But she was also right on the button to avoid your political slant. It's
no insult, and you shouldn't take it as such.

My comments have nothing to do with the recent infux of trolls. I have no
idea what they have been saying since the first few posts, because I KF'd
them almost immediately.

I seriously doubt that any trolls are reading AGD, let alone a D2 related
thread that is over a week old. If so, I'm sure they would have jumped on
this thread already, with their KF evading name changes. Like I said, this
has nothing to do with the trolls. It's me supporting an accurate statement
by a fellow AGD member.

Irreleveant. You let them start something here, you feed them, and

Your 'doubts' do not ammount to facts. I know these trolls a little

Sorry to disagree me old china but, for a few days there, you were replying
to crossposted flames without taking AGD out. Yours were the only posts I
was seeing as I killfile any non-AGD poster in those threads on sight.

And I happen to know for a fact that Alice has the greatest respect for you.
She is not a native English-speaker (I know, I know...) and I agree, her
post *could* be taken to be criticism by someone who has been hounded all

know that wasn't her intent. Your reply seems kinda hostile considering. She
is no stranger to racial hatred and bigotry herself.

True, but only because I wasn't looking at the posting list and wasn't
reading AGD at the time. If you will note, ALL posts to ACJ end up
quickly crossposted to no less that 5 NGs, and when the idiot Rev added
AGD, I simply did not note it. As soon as I did, I expunged AGD.

Not hostile at all, just wanted to make it clear. I do not make
poilitically motivated posts here, nor have I ever, dispite Mark's
assertions to the contrary. I made ONE post, once, which I thought was
a riot, and it lead to a flamewar. Then again, Mark's opinion on the
situation in Israel is such that I would avoid, most strenuously, any
debate on the topic in this forum as it would most certainly turn ugly
quickly. You will note that the when something of mine did get
cross-posted here, I made one reply to Mark and then left the subject
alone.

I'm a moderate, and you can't stand anyone who doesn't share your extremist
opinion. You may think I'm pro Palestinain, but that's only because there is
no one here advocating for that side. So I have nothing to counter on that
side.

The discussions don't turn 'ugly' until you start with the name calling and
personal attacks. Which is sad, because I have learned quite a bit about the
subject in the several discussions that have occurred here through the
years.

How magnanimous of you, wanting to spare AGD an ugly scene. After you had
flamed the pants off of Shiflet, you didn't want it to get ugly. A close the
barn door after the horse was gone thing? And here I thought you avoided my
reply because I found so many facts that contradicted what you were
claiming.

The only way to peace is through mutual respect and two peoples living side
by side. Extremist views, such as denying that the other side even exists,
will only lead to continued violence, from both sides.

Displaying your ignorance, or just being obnoxious? I still maintain a

Which is EXACTLY what the Arabs do. They have been welcome as citizens
of Israel since it's creation, they serve in our government, they serve
in our military, and yet the chant "From the river to the sea" when
they think there are none but themselves to hear it. Every time they
have been offered a chance at peace, they have walked away from it, the
last time being at Camp David, where Barak offered them NINETY EIGHT
PERCENT of what they wanted. Do you know of ANY negotiation where one
party gets 100% of heir needs while the other gets nothing? You are an
apologist, and rather than see the reality of the situation, you think

No, I didn't deny calling people names, you liar. What I denied, and

discussions don't turn ugly until *I* start calling people names. That
was a blatant lie, followed by another blatant lie.

Hi. I've been lurking on the group on and off for a few years, but I just
started playing regularly in agd games. My account name is "meempants", and
the only char i'm playing right now is Nezkah, a fana/zealot pally. I'll
answer to any of these, or just "pants" (it's a long and boring,
inside-joke, "you had to be there" type of thing :)).

At the risk of sounding like a brown-noser, I'd just like to say that my
experience so far in agd games has been fantastic. I'm in Texas and play on
West because I'm somewhat insomniac, and there's usually people on when I
am. Everyone I've met who I've recognized from the group so far has been
very nice and helpful. See you in game!

"You had to be there" ... "inside joke" .. involving your pants?  No
thanks, very much, I'll wander elsewhere if you don't mind.  Whether the
inside of your pants holds a joke or not, I'd just as soon not know...

A crowded club here...  Welcome!

LOL, another person who is good at creative interpretation. Excellent!

Indeed. I spend most of my time playing between the hours of 11pm and 4am.
