When refreshing characters is just double-clicking on them, then clicking
'quit' adequate? The counter goes away but for some reason I've always taken
them into games before now to refresh them. Taking them into games has
become a several-day process as the accounts have built up as I always get
RD several times.

Thanks,

Hi thats how i refresh all my mules just dbl click them so they go to
that little room with their picture in box and then quitting back to
char select list and that will expire countdown thing goes away. and it
goes LOTS quicker than taking them into a game

I dont think that would work to perm a character... but once they have had
their first perm... and just need a quick trim of their counter... that
works fine.

I get my counters trimmed in that way too... very stylish :¬P

Don't be so sure. I had one mule account that was had been refreshed a
few times by taking characters into the chat channel and then quitting.
This resets the counter on the *character*, but does not reset the
counter on the *account*. I ended up with an expired account with 31
days remaining on the characters - clicking on a character brought up
an alert saying the account was expired because it hadn't been used in
90 days.

I was able to recover the characters after a two-week battle with
Blizzard's tech support, but I would recommed taking characters into a
game and letting them walk around a bit.

(It was a definite reminder that I need to clean out some off-ladder
mules. Anyone seen SVH recently?)

Thanks for that Zam, So, if I take one per account into a game and just take
the others into the chat screen I should be OK?

I'm a pack-rat and have a massive amount of mule accounts, both ladder and
non. Anything that makes refreshing them easier/quicker helps.

I suspect that would work (but don't quote me), that one character in a game
will reset the account activity timer. I know I had many, many characters
that were refreshed via the chat channel, but only one account expired. I
must have missed that account entirely while random muling saved the others.
(This all happened last week, so it's still fresh in my mind.)

Are you sure it's not that glitch that popped up a couple months ago?
There's been a bug going around lately that "expires" characters even though
they supposedly still have time remaining, it hit 2 of my accounts but I got
them fixed by Blizzard.

I heard about that glitch, maybe from you. :-) Glad you got them fixed.

I found I could take 3 into that first screen but after the 4th it would
give Realm Down, so the 4th would get taken into a game and move something
around, rinse and repeat.
Too bad I can't remember to go in and check the accounts every now and then,
I lost most of my chars due to my WoW addiction

I'd like an answer on this too, as I have over 50 accounts to refresh, not
including one set of shared mules and accounts (which brings the total to
almost 70 accounts)

All things considered, it's probably a good thing that people don't leave you
to babysit their accounts for them.  ;-)

LOL thought you said only 20 of those were your victi.... er babysitting for
8D
The other 50 would be? Some evul lil hamster who whispers in your ear?
Seriously how the hell do you ever decide which char to work on. I assume
you have a database or a notebook somewhere just so you can find gear, let
alone keep track of all the acct/passes. I'm exhausted just thinking about
it VBG

No, the other 20 or so were the ones I recently realised I'd forgotten to put
on my list of accounts that I'm supposed to be refreshing.  ;-)

>The other 50 would be? Some evul lil hamster who whispers in your ear?

Anywhere from 50-100 distinct character builds (I haven't counted), most
through to hell baal.   Plus mules (very few private mules these days, just
too much hassle maintaining them), shared mules, ladder, non-ladder, SC and
HC.   If there was no AGD community to give gear away too, I'd probably just
about do away with mules entirely, and just keep a couple of accounts of the
choicer items, runes, gems, etc.   Then again, if there was no AGD community,
I probably wouldn't be playing that much anyway.

I have no notebook or list of gear.   Mules have names that indicate what's on
them, so there's not much guessing required.   I do have one piece of paper
with a list of the account names so I can go through when I'm bored, refresh
an account or two, and cross it off the list.

As for how I decide what character to play... no system.   I play what I feel
like playing.   Usually this means I play ladder because that's what the
people I game with usually play, but I still play the non-ladder ones also
(since there's very few repeated builds).
