I mule a LOT in HC and try to switch characters and accounts slow, but
i stillget rhelm down and lose gear. I've learned to pick up the best
stuff first.   But what's your opinion on what exactly triggers the
rhelm (whatever that may be, cause my friends stay on) to shut down.

It usually helps to reconnect my DSL, and in most cases the realm is no
longer 'down'. Does that help?

I find in practice that slowly counting to 7 before logging off from a
chosen char is sufficient to prevent getting tagged. YMMV.
