The release version of 1.10 has a number of skill changes that didn't show
up in the beta, and some are really big. I compared the MPQ files for both
versions, and compiled this list of differences.
Here's the big changes:
Amazon:
Jab and Stafe are now uninterruptable.
Impale does much more damage at high levels. L20 adds 775% damage, was 490%
damage.
Strafe now has a minimum number of arrows fired. Not sure what this means.
Sorceress:
Cold Mastery is much more effective now, it starts at 20% and gains 5% per
level (was 5% + 3% per level).
Necromancer:
All of the Golems picked up some resists, including 100% fire for the Fire
Golem, and 25% physical for the Clay Golem.
Paladin:
Zeal is now uninterruptable.
Blessed Aim now passively gives a 5% attack bonus per level.
Resist Fire / Cold / Lightning now add 1% per level to maximum resists when
active, and passively add 0.5% per level to maximum resists.
Resist Fire / Cold / Lightning only give damage synergy to Vengeance for
their appropriate element.
Druid:
Summoned wolves and grizzlies now gain 5% resist all per level, capping at
85%.
The Hit Point synergy from dire wolves is better, 25% per level instead of
20%.
Grizzlies get about 50% more base hit points.
The damage synergy from grizzlies is better, 10% per level instead of 5%.
Rabies gains more damage from synergies now, 18% instead of 12%.
Rabies now lasts longer with more skill points invested.
Armageddeon gains more damage from synergies now, 14% instead of 7%.
Armageddeon gains more time from synergies now, 2 seconds instead of 1.
Hurricane gains more time from synergies now, 2 seconds instead of 1.
Spirit of Barbs is stronger now, returns 20% damage per level instead of
10%.
All spirits have more HP, they gain 25% life per level, instead of 20%.
Assassin:
Mind Blast stuns for longer with more skill points invested.
Blade Shield now deals a much larger percentage of the damage of wielded
weapons.
Phoenix strike now gives an attack bonus per charge level.

I'm not sure, but I think that is either how often, how far, or how long
you'll chase the critter you were charging if it moves. I Could be wrong
though.

So for level 20 Impale:
in 1.09 - Damage +395% AR +158%
in 1.10 - Damage +775% AR +575%
With a zon-specific spear and some not-so-hard-to-find equip for total of +5
to +7 jav/spear skills, looking at a +1,000% damage skill that requires *no
synergies*, no dex, and only one prereq!
21 points for a 1,000% damage boost and ~700% AR boost?
Flat mana cost of.... three?
Very, very interesting.
Downside is 25% chance of losing durability... but with the (ORT+weapon =
repaired weapon) recipe not as big a deal. Plus in 1.10 I'm hopping back to
town every five minutes anyhow.
Real downside is still slow, will take 2-2.3 times as long as a normal
attack. A zon with 60 IAS and a relatively fast Stygian Pike will Impale
at the same pace as a zero-IAS barb normal attack using a Thunder Maul.
