So when does this charm drop ?
I saw screenshots of Diablo being around the Cairn Stones in the Stony
Field.
When does he appair ? Do you have to kill him on that difficulty at least
once to get him to appair elsewhere ?

AFAIK this Diablo "dupe" apears only in hell.
You must sell a notknown amount of SoJs to a merchant to let him apear.

Am I the only one to suspect that the number of "SOJ Sold" is fiction,
and is either a random increment at random times, or is counting
something other than SOJ?

Hardcore deaths?

I suspect that it's counting the number of SoJ's sold on the realms
while your character has been active, with occasional resets...

...and that in fact it has nothing to do with "Diablo Walks The
Earth", this is a random event unconnected to anything else. ;-)
