Res all is MUCH better than def.

It's actually pretty ok, as far as spirits go. 34% FCR is 1 from the max
(35).

However, the shield you put it is 'far from ideal'. As Shiflet said, many
go for res-all in a Pally shield, and they can have up to +45 res-all on
them, to which the 3 individual res-es from the Spirit runes Tal, Thul and
Ort get added.

There are perhaps a tiny few builds which can use a Paladin shield with
built in Enhanced Damage/AR, but I've never run into one. The max on that
is 65% Enhanced Damage combined with +121 AR.

to get an idea. Also, depending on whether you Smite or not with your
Paladin, you might want to consider using an Elite and not an Exceptional
Paladin shield on one. See link above for that too, it contains links to
the Exceptional/Elite equivalents to the Normal one. A Protector Shield is
an Exceptional item.
