To give away to a good home:

Is anyone interested in some non-ladder Insights? USWest. They're not the
best of the best, probably pretty low level by the standards of some of the
equipment the majority of you guys seem to be toting around but I figure
even a low(ish) ladder item on non-ladder may be welcome.

I also have a mule full of non-ladder p-gems, a bunch of runes up to Pul (I
think I had one left), plus various miscellaneous green items, a bunch of
probably crap gold items and various bits and pieces on my non ladder mules.
If you are interested in casting your eyes over any of this, reply to this
post or look out for the accounts engram1 and mrswan on USWest.

I might make a list of items and post so you can look over the merchandise
before we waste time trying to coordinate between Australia and wherever you
are.

Cheers!

Logged on tonight and took 2 insights and a bunch of runes.

Left some low set stuff in case anyone is a collector (like I was; kept
EVERYTHING that was green, useful or not)

Thanks.

That's me for sure, but only ladder El's.  I still want to
roll that Zod from El's.  :-)

While I'll admit that anyone can make a mistake once, to go on making
the same lethal errors century after century seems to me nothing short
of deliberate.--V.

Don't forget the only-slightly-less-ridiculous number of gems (of
varying grades) that have to be used along with those Els to get to the
Zod.

And where you gonna store it all?

And how many years will it take to do the actual process of "move this
rune from stash/inventory to cube. Now move this one. Now move THIS one.
Now stick the gem in the cube. Now open the cube and hit transmute. Now
remove the result from the cube and put it into inventory/stash so we
can repeat the process with the next batch"?

The mind boggles...

Yes it does, but it's really only finding the El's that's a real pain.  Most
of the
rolls don't need gems and besides, gems are easy to get (unless you're
looking
for a particular one).  And as for storage, I'm not sure, but I think that
you'd
only need one mule to store the runes in, if you keep rolling them as you
get
them.  But I digress, I'd still like to roll a Zod from El's, even if I know
that
in a time frame, it's impossible.

Huh??? Normal Countess practically dumps 'em by the bucketload for me -
I routinely hit her when my rune-mule's stash fills up with mismatched
"junk" runes so I can cube 'em up and make some more room.

> Most of the rolls don't need gems

Huh??? The only rolls that don't need the gems are those below Thul.
Everything past Ort takes a gem along with the runes. Which means 2/3 of
them, give or take one. Hardly "most don't need"...

Eh... relatively speaking, I guess.

GAH!!!! You're planning to be playing on the millionth anniversary of
the release, huh? :)

Depends on your view point.  Considering that it would take
about 19,700 rolls just to make a Thul, that means that it
would take about 59,100 rolls of El's before I could roll
the Thul's.  And that's just counting the El rolls, not the rolling
of the Eld's - Ort's.  Staggering numbers isn't it.  That's why
I said that most of the rolls won't need gems.  Math, not
logic comes into play here.  :-)

Considering the number of El's I'd need to find, gems are
real easy.

ROFL,  I don't think I'd live that long.  Besides you can only roll
a Zod on the ladder, which is why it could never be done from
El's only.  Unless, just maybe, Blizz never resets the ladder on
D2-LoD after the release of D3.  But I'll be playing D3 then
so I still won't be able to do it.

Logic, shmogic... As long as we end up with a Zod. :)
(Preferably before the heat-death of the universe!)

Well, OK... I guess I can deal with that logic. THIS TIME! Don't try to
use that kind of fancy footwork again, though, or I'll hafta get grumpy
- To borrow a phrase, "You won't like me when I'm grumpy!" :)

(Oops... just revealed that I watch RTN, and an old "Incredible Hulk"
re-run is on, didn't I? Oh, the shame...)

LOL.

I remember a few ladders back Jabber had a mule called "CubingToZod" and
would ask for all the low runes that dropped in co-operative games. I don't
think he ever achieved it though.

I've been back in D2 for a couple of months after 4 years off.  Looking at
D2.net, it says Insight is ladder-only.  I haven't even TRIED to make one on
my non-ladder char.  Does it work on non-ladder?

No. Which is why it's marked "ladder only". You can have a non-ladder
char plug the runes that would make an Insight into your favorite stick,
but what you'll get *WILL NOT* be an Insight - It'll just be a stick
with the runes that would have made Insight if it had been assembled by
an on-ladder character.

(Although you might still be able to find someone with a "ladder
converted to non-ladder by the reset" char to sell you one, and it'll
work. You just can't MAKE "ladder only" runewords unless you're on the
ladder)

So I'm guessing that is what this thread has been about - Insight items from
previous ladder seasons?

Indeed. I have a bunch of items from the previous ladder that I am looking
to pass on to a good home, as I have stopped playing my non-ladder
characters.
