Just started out in Hell with my lvl 73 Fishymancer. I couldn't
believe my first Countess run: she dropped 4 magic items and an Eld
rune!!! So I tried again: A rare bow and a..... Tir rune.!!!  Now, I
must confess I'm not wearing *much* MF gear but even so this is very
poor indeed. Should I keep on trying? Or does the Hell Countess, as I
suspect, really suck a.s?

Items pretty-much always suck from countess.  Most people run her for keys
or runes

Countess' drop consists of 2 parts: her special runedrop (up to Ist on hell
difficulty), and normal item drop. The regular drop can also include runes
(up to Lo), but the chances are low, pretty much the same as regular
monsters.

The minions and regular monsters down there can drop higher runes than
Countess, so far known to be upto Jah (with what appears to be normal
probability)

And, although I'm not sure if the OP knows this or not: MF has no
influence on rune-drops.

So, if you run the Countess for runes only, feel free to swap out MF-gear
for 'battle-gear', if that means you can reach and kill her that much
faster.

Regards, Patrick.
