Diablo2 uses many different servers.

There is the main server used for chat on one IP, and then also lots of
different servers to host the games. Why do you need this info?

Perhaps because he wants to score an Annihilus charm?

Anyway, I don't know of any organized World Events; in order to know of
those, you usually have to 'chip in' (or, in other words, provide a few
Stone of Jordan rings to trigger the WE). What I do know is a server which
tracks the status of the servers; if one is close to 'popping' you might
want to try and get on it:
