My usenet providor updates the newsgroups list pretty much daily. If I
haven't seen it in the next few weeks I'll email the sysadmin and ask.
I have FA bandwidth at the moment. Do you know if there's a projected
release date for D3?
Cheers,

Official words from Blizzard: "when its done"
I'd love to give an estimate... but anything that anyone can give is pure
guess-work.
Consider how long it takes to get a patch and multiple it by 50?

I also added alt.games.diablo3.moderated as a moderated group with all posts
going to my email account first. Im hoping the moderated group wont be
needed but I'll try to create some scripts for auto-moderation that can be
set by mods. If anyone wants to moderate the forum with me then just lemme
know :)
Present posters in any of the alt.games.diabl* groups would be best suited
to moderation, along with members/editors/mods of Diablo related
forums/websites.
Im thinking of making the moderation script have the following "alert"
levels:
*Green: Everything is allowed in the newsgroup (The script should
automatically switch to this when there are no moderators & also requests
moderators)
*Yellow: Only "filtered posters", "filtered IPs", etc will be filtered from
the list
*Red: Every new poster not already on the safe list will have posts delayed
until a mod adds them to the safe list
Filter options Im thinking of creating for mods to use as an automated
filter system:
* Account (name, email, ip, etc)
* Authorised/unauthorised crosspost groups
* Authorised/unauthorised websites/links
* Word/phrase
Feedback, anyone?

I know nothing about modded groups but that sounds like you know what you're
doing. <g>

It almost does... doesnt it? >.>
*scared* (I've only moderated forums before - lots of forums)
Everything I (think) that I know comes from this mornings research & my
knowledge of programming / network admin
Moderation of newsgroups seems to be through email so Im pretty sure that I
can automated pretty-much 99% of it (after a few days of hell when people
get the group and start trying to post before the system is ready)
Also, Im going to need alot of moderators while Im working on the automated
system (when my ISP updates with the group & isc catches up)... feel free to
apply to be a moderator & I'll post instructions on a webpage as to how its
done :¬P

VirginMedia customers should have access to the new group(s) on
Monday/Tuesday if all goes well.
Following is the reply from my ISPs support.usenet group when asked about
how often they check for new alt.* groups in relation to alt.games.diablo3 :
"Hi Trammel,
In response to your question, not all groups are automatically added to the
news servers. There is a download made daily of the ISC active groups, and
anything within that list can be added. I have checked and alt.games.diablo3
is on that list.
However we are currently unable to add groups here at the Technical Support
Department. I will get this chased up on Monday to see if it can be added.
I hope that helps."
