Is there a new newsgroup or is everyone just too busy to ask
questions? I know the spam was terrible. If I need to do something to
find new newsgroup, please advise.

I actually still read this newsgroup each day. Well i check it each day at
least. I've been pondering the same thing myself. I haven't had a great deal
of time to play of late but i still check in here. :)

I'm also still here, checking out the newsgroup, and answering when
needed.. ;)
It's just that I've had very little time these last few days/weeks to even
play Diablo II...
So, other lurkers, write down those questions! :)
Ciao, Patrick.

I've noticed the same thing. Maybe, it's just that time of the year.

Well, D2 has been out for how many years? And how long ago was the
last content patch? Most people still playing D2 probably know all
they want to know about it by now. Especially the ones that have been
reading these newsgroups. ; )
Personally I'm playing WoW. : )

I got Jaime a Guild Wars:Nightfall account for her birthday, she quickly
followed up by getting the other campaigns+EotN. So I've been spending a
great deal more time on GW lately than D2.

North, actually, but as short as the expansion was(walkthrough of the final
mission in EotN was online at Guildwiki 7 HOURS after it's release), newt is
a rather appropriate term.

I also have been playing very little D2 lately. I have been playing a lot of
GW. I still pop into the newsgroup on occasion just to add a few more cents
here and there.

Still here also. Just been too busy with little league baseball
practices to spend much time on the computer. Winter is ending for
many and it seems like people are actually leaving their houses and
venturing outdoors. I know it's hard to imagine. ;)

I thought that was why they invented laptops and wireless networks, we can

After Mickey and his alter egos (responsible for 75% of all traffic

misfit you are for sure the best plonker I ever seen.... replonking over and
over again ;oP. sh.t man learn how to use a computer. It does not seem you
can and you said you have five computers?? I give you a clue... use only one
but properly!! ;oP. I am sure if you would met Mouth in person for the 1st
time, you would present your a.s as a sign of domination, you know like the
wolves do.;oP In your case I would not be surprised you would also like it
in the a.s showing your unconditional support. Man I know you are not Mouth
in disguise but are you his twin brother?
BTW PH I encourage you to piss off the Mouth'wannabe whenever they praise
their idol. If Mouth decide to spam the Jewish group again since he already
made about 25 thousand posts there until now, I would not be surprise he can
not stop doing so. I will then post some nice links to feed the spammers,
not here but in the Jewish group so they can laugh at him. Damn after
reading this, Misfit will be so pissed off he should replonk me! ;op
PS; misfit will not do it, he likes to read me. ;oP

I read the NG every day, but just too busy to play at the moment. For me it
seems that winter evenings are the best for D2/LoD.

LOL, I read the group everyday too. Makes me laugh, mental image of many
folks checking a recently empty (killfile's are great) group everyday.
As someone else said, we're mostly the sme group of people who've been
posting here for years. No new patches or anything for the game, we've all
got it pretty sussed by now and most everything you could want to know is
archived by Google anyway.
I've been playing a bit more of late as winter's approaching here in New
Zealand. However I've been mostly mule rushing as, as long as my flatty
isn't playing, I have 4 sets of CD keys and my desk is surrounded by 5
computers. (Main monitor a 19" 5:4 flanked by two 15" monitors for the other
PCs, shared by KVM switches.)
I use my patented formula enchanted bow necro to get the mules through from
normal to NM and then onto hell. I rush them through the acts with my
strafer as she's the fastest character I have who can go anywhere in the
game with aplomb. The summoning necro can too bit he's slower, especially in
places like maggots. (They both have teleport, a SpellSteel's a wonderful
thing.)
So nothing much new to report. Oh, this ladder I have my own, genuine,
Chains of honour, Call to Arms and two HotO's. All made with self-found
runes. I have others of course and other ladders I've had good runewords.
However, they've all been made with traded runes. S'good to be using
self-found stuff.
My pally has a Grief but I've put it in his stash and mainly use a wicked
self-made Oath ethereal Cryptic Sword that got a 337% ED roll giving a
damage figure of something like 80 - 510. The LCS says that it does twice as
much damage as the Grief and it actually does seem to chop through the
monsters at least as well as the Grief. However, it doesn't have the coveted
"Ignore target's defence" mod and my AR varies but seems to be somewhere
between 70% and 82% depending on where I am in the (hell) game. I might have
to dig out that Demonlimb that's on a mule somewhere and swap it for the CtA
that he currently has on switch. That should boost his AR a bit.
Cheers,

Is there a proper way to Google info from this group (ie.
alt.games.diablo (topic), or AGD (topic)?
I would also be most interested in a primer on how to use a search
engine in general. Especially with reference to <brain fart: can't
think of the term for substituting a character like an * for a letter
or group of letters>.

PS. I googled "Use of search engines" and found some helpful
information, but woundered if any of you have a favorite primer?

Put group:groupname into the search, it takes you to that group. You can
use author:name also. I think that's all I ever do. Use Advanced Search for
more.
If you're going to do a lot of searching using a lot of sites, Opera is
the browser to use. ;-)
For instance, if I want to search Google Groups for a post about Mara's by
me in this group, I open a new tab and type gg group:alt.games.diablo2
author:freemont maras

Some of us would prefer to install a *new* regime. Or, as one of my
