Hi,

I'm a complete noob to B.Net multiplayer gaming. I was wondering if
anyone can answer a question: If a player has gone hostile to you is
there any 'glitch' , trick or tactic they can use to utilize your town
portal to get to you? I ask because a PK joined a game I was in
(everyone else got  out the game quick) and jumped through my TP. I
got out in time (just) but I can't figure what I did wrong. I play HC
ladder BTW.

Thanks, Iron.

Wow. There are so many hacks out there on Bnet right now it is ridiculous. I
see some of the screen postings on D2jsp and some of these guys have 2 or 3
different game hacks running at the same time. At least half of the people
on the HC ladder are there because of the use of cheats.

The only solution is not to play in any public games. Or expect to be killed
if you do. They have several clans devoted to PK (player kill) such as Blue
Moon PK and WTF PK. They all have 'trigs' (hacks) unique to their clans.

If a PK'er jumped through your TP, they must have been invited to join, or,
they could be using teleport. There used to be a teleport cheat that allowed
you to travel across several screens, like from Blood Moor all the way to
Stoney Field. There is also a hack that allows them to tell where you are
even if you are unpartied. The point is, there is no safe way to play in a
public game.

If you are on West HCL, look for the list of AGD players that is posted in
other threads. We will level/rush/play with you when we are on. There are 2
accounts of AGD mules now with some nice low to mid level gear.  I have
never come across an AGD'r in the last 8 years that used hacks to kill other
people. At least not on AGD account names. We used to have some pretty
lively discussions on using maphack, but that hasn't come up in years.

My account is *svenbo.

OK, thanks for pointing me to the 'D2jsp' forum. Lol :D I  see that
the "Gaming Community" is full of sociopaths with mental health
issues. :D  Online gaming is only about who can cheat the best. So
it's completely pointless for someone like me, who just wants to play.
Back to solo.

I see Svenbo on a lot and my friend Willi70.
There are a lot a trustworthy players to get a private game with.
I'm normally on most weekends. I'm in UK, but I play on West Coast HCL.
My account is capricorn46. I have about 7 characters on all modes.

2 in Nightmare

Thanks for the message. I hope can get a game with you sometime. :D
BTW is West Coast HCL better than European HCL  for some reason? Do
you not experience a lag problem with the distant server?

Thanks, Iron.

Doubt there is much lag between there and here. I would bet EB is on west
because of friends, etc...

I know that there was a way to do it but it was fixed a while ago. I've
heard that they since found a new way to do it. Sometimes if they some
players either have friends in the game or multiple chars in a game and have
used other tps to get to the area. I hate Pkers... What realm you on ??? I
playing USEHCL. I have just started a hammerdin who's currently level 16 and
i have a trapper sitting at level 20. :)

Thanks for the responses. It really is an education. :(  I play
European HCL. I've had some really good games with some really helpful
people but these PKer's are starting to get me down. Someone just
tried to whack me (through my own TP) again. What is it with these
people? Do they consider B.Net to be their pissing ground or
something? Is there a way to play without encountering these
a**holes??

Thanks, Iron.

Yep, play in private, passworded games(either solo, or with friends you
trust). That's the only real way you can be sure to avoid them. If you play
in public games, you run the risk of being PKed. It sucks, but if you play
public games, it's the risk you take. If you're not willing to take that
risk, play in private games, or play softcore where being PKed doesn't mean
anything other than a loss of gold.

Ok, thanks.

One more thing (and then I'll leave it alone), are HCL PKers
'glitched' characters?. you know, like 2000 to all skills etc...? or
can they be beaten? Are they very, very good players? Or just script
kiddie cheats using off the shelf hacks?

Do I have a hope in hell if I stand and fight?

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice,

Iron.

> One more thing (and then I'll leave it alone), are HCL PKers

Nope. No such glitches exist, currently. The only current glitch chars are
stacked auradins, which make for annoying duelers, but somewhat poor
pkers(since stacking an auradin requires 2 characters, a fair amount of
time, can easily be seen being set up, and since auradins lack teleport).

> or can they be beaten?

Some can. There's more than 1 dead character on the HC ladders who died in a
failed PK attempt.

> Are they very, very good players?

Some are, many are not.

> Or just script kiddie cheats using off the shelf hacks?

Many of them are, the ones who PK legit tend to be the good ones.

> Do I have a hope in hell if I stand and fight?

Not likely, because the PKers who use hacks to kill most likely won't ever
fight you to begin with. They'll kill you from offscreen with TMC and AA, or
while in town with TPPK, and you're not likely to ever be in a position to
face them head on. And the ones who kill legit with no hacks are a)built
*specifically* to kill other characters and b)built with VERY costly, top of
the line godly gear. If you're not similarly built and geared, you're not
likely to beat one of them head on.

Maybe one in 100 has real skills.  One in 20 uses top gear that makes
them extremely powerful.  The rest have no special skills or gear and
just cheat.

>Or just script kiddie cheats using off the shelf hacks?

Almost all are the latter.

>Do I have a hope in hell if I stand and fight?

No.  It would be quite rare for a PK cheat (and they almost all cheat)
to even be on your screen when they kill you.

However, a few PKs are just idiots who want to annoy others, and will
even do things like enter a Normal chant game after the chanter has
left, hoss everyone, and promptly get killed by somebody's merc as
soon as they show their face outside town.

It amazes me that these idiots still have enough interest in the game to
bother doing idiot hacks like this.  Another testament to D2's
all-time-great-game status, I guess.
