Hey guys, what merc should I get for my windy druid? I thought of a
few with reasons for each particular choice. But I just can't seem to
agree which is the best. So I am listing out the candidates and pick
the one with the most votes. Democracy at work. hehe

1) Fire or Lightning merc from Act 3. Because my windy druid would
have cold and physical attack, but some monsters in Hell would be
immune to both cold and physical. So another elemental attack would
serve me well.

2) Might aura merc from Act 2. Because windy druids have Pooh bears.
Yeah. You only spend 80 points on your elemental tree, then the rest
would go towards a bear, no? Well, a might merc would boost the bear
up.

3) A barbarian in Act 5. Because I never had one before. Might be fun?
Besides lots of swords have elemental damage so he would have both phy
and ele capabilities.

Well, which one would u pick?

Their damage is weak at best when teamed with a paladin who has lvl 25
conviction lowering monster's resistances by 150. Now imagine how weak it it
withOUT the paladin's aura. Beyond there, there are very few monsters immune
to cold and physical together. An occasional boss monster that can be
avoided, and that's really it.

> Yeah.

A decent choice, although not the one I would use(reasons below).

No, the rest goes towards Oak Sage. Bear is a 1 point skill at best, a lot
of windys don't even get it(or wait till lvl 95 to get it) and simply rely
on wolves for their summons.

True, but even at lvl 20 the bear only does roughly 1k damage, and it's all
physical. Even with might, he'll contribute little, damage wise, compared to
your 5k+ tornados.

Wind druids really benefit from a merc with an Insight, MUCH more than the
mostly shitty elemental damage you can get on swords, and act 5 mercs can't
wield insight.

> Well, which one would u pick?

None of the above. I'd choose a holy freeze merc or defiance merc, and give
him an insight weapon. Holy Freeze slows even the cold immune monsters
making them attack slower and be less likely to move out of the way of your
tornados, Defiance would boost the defense of you and your summons
decreasing the number of hits you and your minions take. IMO, even Prayer
would be better than Might or an act 3/5 merc, as the prayer and med work
well together My own lvl 93 windy uses a Holy Freeze merc, but really, it ,
Defiance, or Prayer are all better choices than Might or an act 3/5 merc.

Holy Freeze, Batman, none of the above!  ;^)  Take the NM A2 defensive
merc.  As Tornado uses a fair amount of mana, you can give him an
Insight stick (elite eth if you can find one) and have a very useful
merc: mana producer, slows all nearby monsters, and deals decent
physical damage.
