I'm not ready yet to group up because I want to play the game solo once
first, but I'm curious, what are some good builds for being in a team?
My summoner nec seems like a very good solo character, but probably not
great in a group. A paladin, on the other hand, seems like they are
ideal for a group.

In an 8 person game a summoner Nec is usually responsible for more
damage than any other player.  His might merc is give all players
doing physical damage a boost and his AD curse is adding damage.  Then
he has a dozen or so skells and a golem doing their own damage.  You
add it up and the Nec is responsible for more damage than any other
player.

And will also be accused of lagging the game more than any other build in
existence. Most of bnet HATES summoners...I've actually been in quite a few
games where summoners were hostiled for not unsummoning their minions(and
has happened to my summoner, as well).

A necro has the second most powerful skill in the game, namely CE.

It's not really necessary to use all your summons when in partied games.
The additional summons cause some players to lag.  That is when their
computers cannot handle all of the additional graphics without the game
video jumping and skipping making play almost impossible.  Just use your
curses and CE, a Golem and it's all good, unless of course your partied
with lower level players and your summons are needed for killing.

or if you are playing with people who have good video cards. I was just
leveling my baby sorc, and in a game with 2 skelemancers, and the game ran
like a charm.

Anything that gives a group bonus: paladins with their auras, necros
with curses, barbs with BO, druids with OS.  Depending on what the
group is doing (like Baal runs), a sorc's teleport skill can be huge.
Even a trapper helps a lot with DS to expand the killing field and MB
in a pinch.  The zon is really the only class that doesn't offer much
to the team; and even then, furyzons kill everything but LIs so damn
fast that it doesn't matter.

Curses are extremely valuable to a group, and CE is as good as DS.
Some people say necro minions cause lag, but IME spell effects like
Firewall and especially torches are worse.

Summons don't lag me either, but from my experience, the majority of bnet
doesn't like them, and will either ask them to not summon, not party with
the summoner, or outright hostile and possibly PK the summoner. My own
summoner has been hostiled a few times for summoning, and a great many more
times I've been asked(or told) not to summon...can't say I've had the same
happen with casters(I've seen a lot of people ask melee attackers and
multishot zons to not attacl or take off torch, but that's because of it
dropping games rather than just being laggy).
