number of sockets & item level

i need help: i need to know max number of sockets on special item with
known item level... (item is not socketed and is from normal) where
can i find information about this? is there guide abuot this?

Diabloii.net has the information in their items section. If you go to the
first items page (http://www.diabloii.net/items/items_main.shtml) and look
down the left-hand side to where it says Armour-Normal armour, etc., and
click there it takes you to pages that answer this question.
