My summoning Necro is on the point of disposing of Baal in Nightmare
mode, and so hell beckons. As a little light relief, in between my
necro getting killed, I thought I would build a Paladin.
The suggested build I picked up on the web suggests:
Combat skills.
Sacrifice 20
Zeal 20
Smite 1
Holy Bolt 1
Blessed Hammer 1
Holy Shield 20
Offensive skills
Might 1
Blessed Aim 1
Concenstration 1
Fanaticism 20
Would any of you Paladin experts like to comment on the build. I would
be grateful for any input. Thank you.

Looks like a standard, run-off-the-mill, Fanatic Zealot build. Quite
viable, although it does depend a bit on a heavy hitting weapon, plenty of
life leech and perhaps some crushing blow sprinkled around.
So keep an eye out for any one-handed weapon your Necro happens to find,
because he could then perhaps pass it on the this Paladin.
Regards,
Patrick.

A little ole Lightsaber has served my Pally well. Especially since I can't
afford the elite runeword weapons.
It's effective, cheap to trade for, and saves you a fortune in repair costs.
What it lacks in damage per hit is made up for it by its attack speed.

If you play solo maybe, but otherwise, its damage is just too low IMO. Other
weapons can hit equally fast, but do more damage, and are more effective,
not even counting high end runeword weapons. Examples include Stormlash,
Frostwind, Astreon's Iron Ward, Nord's Tenderizer, Azurewrath... Also, Oath
isn't an extremely expensive runeword, and making it in an eth cryptic sword
or scourge can make for a pretty mean weapon too, though finding the item to
make it IN might be tough...

I have the Nord's on switch.
It does do more damage per hit but still kills way slower than the LS with
my build.
I think a Shaeffer's might be better than all the others but it is a little
tough to find.

Schaeffers is crap IMO, just too slow for me. If you want a weapon with
static field, make a Crescent Moon or use Stormlash. IMO, the absolute best,
albeit very costly, PvM zealot weapon is an eth zod'ed Stormlash. Crushing
blow, static field, high damage, very fast, and even a semi useful second
C2C mod(the tornados it casts don't themselves do damage, but the fact that
tornado can force hit recovery can actually be handy with mobs)...amazing.
Even non-eth is top tier for a PvM zealot, IMO.

You forgot 1 point in Charge(HShield pre-req and generally useful skill),
and 1 point in the useful defensive auras(Vigor and all pre-reqs, optionally
1 in Salvation too), but otherwise, the build is the 100%, by the numbers,
cookie cutter zealot build.

I have watched Mickey rip though the universe 3 ladders in a row with
his Pallys, and he NEVER puts more than one point in Sacrifice. If you
have lots of crushing blow items, or just 50% and a grief, you don't
need more than that. His has maxed Fanat, Zeal and Holy Shield, and a
high lvl Conviction for dealing with PIs.
