I downloaded it just to see what it was like.
Incredible graphics. but to be honest, I couldn't make heads or tails
on what I suppose to be doing.
I suppose if I really took a more than an hour on the game, I could
get into it.
Another thing, I don't think I have the TIME to really play this game.
I was wondering if anyone here that does play WoW, how much time a
week do you play it?

It took me quite awhile to get used to 'how' to play.  It is quite
different from D2.

About as much as I did D2.
Which is - on average - 6 hours per night and all weekend long.
No, I do not have a RL obviously. :-\

I agree, I played the trial too and it really doesn't give you enough
time to truly get the hang of it. Should be a 30-day trial instead of
10. *nods*

Well, the d/l is free, with a free ten day trial, but if you buy the game
you get a month free.  So even if you don't like it, it would only be like
buying any other game that just didn't 'tickle your fancy'.
IMO the interface is not as 'easy' or intuitive as D2, but once you get
used to it you are ok.
The problem is the d/l has no book, so trying to figure things out can
take an hour or more just to be able to move around competently.

True, but I don't have the money to buy the game. LOL

Fortunately there I have an advantage: the movement controls are similar
to those of first-person shooters, which I've been playing since 1997.
<g> I just wish WoW had an option for first-person viewpoints ;)

Try your local game store, i recently purchased the WoW 14 day trial DVD
for a few dollars, so by the time i've done the 10day free trial off the
website, and the 14 day trial i should hopefully have some idea which
way is up :)

It does.  You just zoom all the way in and then you'll be looking out
of your own head.  You'll have mobs sneaking up behind you and killing
you all the time though.  ;p
And targeting the right things could be tricky.

You can zoom in the camera enough so that it's a pretty good approximation
of first person.

Definitely. I saw the game for about £14 the other day on special, if
you can afford it, well worth a months play. Problem is, you might get
hooked ;)

I keep seeing comments like this but I must say it surprises me. A quick
glance through the manual helps, but WoW provides tooltips for your
frist 10 levels or so to help you get accustomed to the game and how to
perform various actions. There are one or two things that took me a
while to figure out, but other than that it's easy to get into.

Must be just me. I simply struggle with the "WASD" way of moving around. I
get cramp in my hand and it feels contrained and un-natural. I tried the Far
Cry demo and the Crysis demo and I'm told a lot of FPS's use the same
set-up. Seems I won't be playing any of them in a hurry.

Yeah, that can happen. When I first was introduced to the WASD setup
(long time ago) I didn't really like it. But it's like that for a
reason, and sooner rather than later I adjusted and now it just seems
natural, so WoW was no different. In fact I still play D2 now and then
just for a change and every time I get slightly disoriented with the
click to move concept. Just a matter of where you approach things from ;)

You can also enable "click to move" in the WoW interface. Click on a piece
of scenery and you'll run there... mostly:)

I played WoW for over a year but got tired and came back to D2.  WoW
doesn't have the playability that D2 does and, unless your willing to
join a large expert guild, there's not much to do after you reach lvl
60 or now 70.  The best guilds want members who can commit to long
instance raids that can last for up to three or four hours.  If you
can't do that then you have to settle for pick up groups that can be
dodgy at best.  In some cases you can waste a half hour waiting for a
group that never even gets started.

It does depend a bit on what you want from a game.  I've spent
literally days with my character at max level while still having
plenty of stuff I felt like doing without needing to be in a raiding
guild.  And I have seen some of the later raid content without
committing to one group and putting in heaps of time.  There are some
groups that will occasionally need an extra one or two people to make
up numbers that you can join in with one night to see stuff you might
not otherwise get too.  Otherwise there's a number of self set goals
you can aim for.  And of course there are 9 different classes to get
up to level 70, each of which is likely to take at least 10 days of
actually being in the game to reach that level.

Diablo2 is to WoW what a game of pacman is to Diablo2.  Pac Man, you
can start her up and have a quick fun game where as Diablo 2 you've
got a bit of work to do building up your character first.  Wow takes
more time to build your character up to a level where you can run
around like my fireball/forb sorc could and pwn just about everything.
