well my $.02,...the def is no good in general, although not necessarily
an item-breaker, IMO.  the resists are great, and the sockets are
interesting in that they allow for either dream or sanctuary runewords.  
I dunno about others here, but I find VERY few 3 socket pally shields,
let alone ones with 42 res built-in.  

Problem,...seems (to me) damn near every pally out there now is either a
smiter or a hammertwirler, and this shield is lowest of the lows for
smiting, and not much of a draw for hammers as it has no +skills, like a
cheap spirit (4 runes) shield does.

Of course, there's always this odd assortment of LLD guys who MAY go
gaga over stuff like this, but that's a bit of a specialized aspect that
I know next-to-nothing about...Of course, if so, it would seem likely to
be much more sought after with 4 sockets for higher resists.

To first answer your question downthread: all paladin shields can get 4
sockets.

This one, difficult. I won't repeat what's said in the other reponse, and
I mostly agree with it: useless for Smiter, it also has rather low block
compared with other 'normal' Paladin shields.

The only group which _might_ indeed pay handsome for this is perhaps the
VLLD group...?

Beyond that, no idea really. I have a few like these, but never managed to
sell 'em.
