I have BF2142 Deluxe edition, and i havn't playd it for a bit however
i got into it again, most of the multiplayer servers, however, are
unusable as they have the new 1.4 patch installd. I have tried to
install the patch several times but i keep getting the error: You have
a newer edition installed, I havn't got the 1.5 beta or used the 1.4
beta and my registry says that I have version 1.01! I don't think
that's newer than 1.4!! Please help as there is only about 20 severs I
can play on 1/2 of them empty most of the time and no Northen strike
maps!!

You using any no-cd EXE? Try using the original disc, or a no-cd image
instead of a no-cd EXE.

Do any of the 'no Cd' gizmos actually work without upsetting PB and if so
which is best?

I use an iso file (cd image) and load it on a Virtual cd-rom. Have done this
since 2003 bf1942, desert combat and bf2. never had an issue

I agree. The no-cd ISO image (mounted with Daemon Tools) is better than
the no-cd EXE.

Thanks for that. My CD is getting pretty beat up now and I'd wondered what
to do about it. I know 'nowt about ISO images or Deamon so I shall have to
look into it.

Thanks guys

To get the no-CD image, go http://www.gamecopyworld.com, and search for
"battlefield 2".

The last time I tried to play BF2 with the no-cd EXE, BF2 kept crashing
with error "Corrupted File/Memory (81159)".

Tried the ISO as recommended, failed the MD5 check in PB. Made a copy of
disk with alcohol 120 and it works fine so I'll settle for that.

Thanks to all

I have a working no-cd iso file. Email me if you still want it.

Thanks for the offer but my copy  CD works OK and I have retired the
original to a safe place before it becomes unusable. I had tried in the past
but never manged to produce a working copy. Tried Alcohol 120 (I'd never
heard of it until recently) and it worked first time.
Again thanks for offer.

Alcohol is just a waste of time... :)

Daemon Tools could mount Alcohol images.
ImgBurn could burn Alcohol images.
Both of them freewares.
