Morning all!
Got a question. Which games would you recommend getting for my GameCube?
I've not bought a new title since, er, Mario Party 5 (I think), so I
think it's time for an update!
I'm mainly after fun multi-player games, as I don't spend much time on
my cube playing alone (I'd rather play HL2DM online), although I might
take my TV & gcn round to my g/f house, as I spend most of my time there
anyway, and then would actually get to play games.
I own a US cube, but live in the UK, mainly buy games from
http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/ - if you know of any cheaper site, please
let me know!
Titles I currently own (a good indication of my interestes):
- Wave Race (First game I got, uncompleted)
- Super Mario Sunshine (Uncompleted - got bored)
- Starfox Adventures (Completed, enjoyed it)
- Animal Crossing (Not played in months)
- Mario Kart DD (Got all tracks, but not completed Mirror cups)
- Super Smash Bros. Melee (Game I play the most - MP mainly)
- Super Monkey Balls 1 + 2 (Excellent party games)
- Mario Party 5 (Rarely played)
- Zelda, Wind Waker (Good game, too short though (enjoyed SFA more))
- Harvest Moon (Got to Year 2, havn't played it much recently)
- F-Zero GX (Trident is an *evil* track!!)
- Time Splitters 2 (A fair MP game every now-and-then)
I've just bought (yesterday):
- Starfox Assault (heard the walking levels aren't great, but the flying
is fun, also has multi-player)
- Pikmin 2 (Best game this generation - so I've been told)
I also thought about these games, your opinions would be appreciated:
- Donkey Konga + Jungle Beat (thus 2 sets of bongos)
- Metroid Prime / Echos (I hear 1 > 2)
- Pikmin 1 (is it worth it if I've purchased #2?)
- Paper Mario, The 1000 year door (Anything like Super Star Saga?)
- Bomberman (Loved this on the snes)
- Sonic (My g/f likes Sonic on the Mega Drive / Genesis)
- Resident Evil (Heard good things about #4)
- Wario (Or should I wait for the DS version?)

For good multiplayer action, try any of the James Bond Games!

How do the new ones compare to Goldeneye, I really liked Goldeneye (SP &
MP) but I didn't enjoy TWINE
Haggis - 12 Feb 2005 05:08 GMT
I was a HUGE Goldeneye fan! I am currently working on "Agent Under Fire"
and I think it is every bit as good as GoldenEye in the mulitplayer
environment. As far as the single player mode...I like it ALMOST as much as
Goldeneye. AUF is a little more stressful to me, but all in all, I still
give it an "A" and highly recommend it!

I would pick up Mario Party 4. I like the minigames there much more than MP5.
Metroid Prime is enjoyable as a single-player adventure. Paper Mario is
also great.

Finish Mario Sunshine. Mario 64 was a little better, but Sunshine is
still a great game. Where did you get BORED?

I got Yohsi, and was slightly annoyed you can't take him into levels.
I'm not sure what the world was called, but the first shine is something
to do with chomp-chomps or bow-bows on fire

There is a Yoshi egg in some of the levels you have to hatch. That Pinta
Village level is a good one. If you do ever really run out of games, I do
think you will like it if you try it again.
I cut the list of games you had and were thinking about. Did either list,
or has anyone added Cubivore? Very strange and outstanding game.

Buy Bomberman Generations; it's probably the best general multiplayer
game on the Gamecube (this excludes genres someone may specifically
like, like racing or FPSs), and is great for lots of people to just pick
up and play.

I thought the gcn version was really poor compared to the GBA version? I
also hear the DS one is the worst out the lot

It's alright on the GBA, it's fantastic on the Gamecube if there's a
few of you. I regularly play with 3 other friends. It's one of the 3
main games we play. The others are MK:DD and SMB 2. I've just got
Donkey Konga and a couple of bongos to try with the lads too. I'm
always on the lookout for more good multiplayer games. I couldn't
recommend Wario Ware enough though.

If you're after good "party" games, try smash bros. meleee - I don't
like fighting games (Street Fighter, Mortal Combat), but I *love* Smash
Bros. it's much more about reflex & button-bashing, than remembering
button combinations, and crap like that.

We have the occasional game of Soul Calibur 2 (the main reason I
bought the Gamecube), but we've never really got into Smash Bros.
Monkey fight on SMB 2 is far better for that kind of thing in my
opinion.

Metroid Prime 1 & 2 absolutely. 1 is better than 2 if you are playing for the
first time. 2 is great if you are done 1, and want more levels and stronger
bosses.
The Pikmin games are brilliant.
Resident Evil 4 is turning out to be the best game I have ever played. I never
thought I would love having a shotgun so much.

I ordered a Nintendo DS plus Mario this week. It was despatched 10pm our
time on Monday night and arrived 12 lunchtime on wednesday. Thats less than
2 days for delivery - better than Royal Mail :-)

I'm not so sure about their pricing.. they want $39.99 for a
controller you can get for $24.99 on amazon.ca and they want $69.99
for Resident Evil 4?! Everyone sells it for $59.99! Prince of Persia
for $34.99 on sale?! It's like $19.99 everywhere.
They do have some titles that aren't carried anywhere else tho.
I'd say compare prices at amazon.ca, futureshop.ca and bestbuy.ca
(plus the prices they show online are the same as the local stores -
and you can check the stores stock online)
Bestbuy has free shipping on most everything, as does futureshop, and
amazon.ca is free shipping on orders over $39.
EBgames locally isn't bad.. their selection of new games is limited,
but they always have tons of working (guaranteed to) used titles.
Plus with their discount card ($0.50 buys you a 10% discount) their
prices are good.

Hello,
I had a lot of fun playing Soul Calibur II with friends, although you
might not call that a fun game. If you like racers - check out Burnout
2. It is a great racing game
