Yes. The Problem for me is even worse in 3D first person shooter
games. There the problem is having to look left and right and thus
making very unnatural moves with the camera, while not moving
with the body and so the brain gets confused between not feeling
a movement but seeing rapid turns to the left an the right.
I think it is similar to become seasick, where you feel the
movement of the ship but cant see your environment moving
because you are inside the ship.
In games like mario sunshine or zelda the camera works quite
different and thus i dont get any headache :O)

Camera near the character forces me to look left and
right more like in a first persen view and that is the
problem. camera more far away results in much less
camera movement and so there is no problem.

No problems with movies. as long as i am not sitting in
the first row of seats in the cinema.
I only have problems with first person games and i have
been playing since the early 80es and first encountered
this effect with doom.
And talking about the movies, there
the camera doesnt look left and right all the time. i
cant remember a movie where the camera moved the
same way like in games like doom for example.

Yeah, that problem is fairly common with a lot of folks. I never
noticed Sonic games letting you look left and right while you're
running, but the adventure stages let you quite a bit. I can see how
that'd be very much like an FPS, and cause the same issues for folks
that have issues there.

I totally agree.
As well I welcome the fact that on most recent FPS they removed the up and
down effect when you walk, it makes it less painful.
The left and right issue does not happen too much if you are in the open
air, big rooms or large corridors. The worst situation is tight corridors in
a maze like level where you try to find your way.
Another thing that can be annoying is the vertical angle, for example in
games where you see the action from above.
I bought X Men: legends the other day and I really hate the camera, because
the angle is very vertical and must be something like 45?. You cannot see
very far around the characters if ennemies are coming. As well if you are on
a big level and a little bit lost, if you try to identify objetcs around
that would give yo a clue where you are, you tend to play with the C-stick
to move the camera but that does not help at all. In consequence you tend to
move a lot in all direction, come back to see what is on the other side, it
really is exhausting sometimes.
On several occasion I surprised myself to lower my face closer to the TV and
trying to "look up" as it would make the angle of vision better, a little
bit like in racing games when you see players move their body left or right
whenever they negociate a tight corner.

I agree with the horrible camera on all the Sonic Games for Gamecube
that I have played. Almost every other game i have played, even if it
has bad camera angles, is usually playable. But these Sonic games just
made me mad. Getting stuck because you couldnt see where you were,
falling off things because you couldnt tell where you were, and just
the camera flying around all over the place sometimes.
As I mentioned though, I am fine with most games. I am mostly a PC
gamer, and am used to all kinds of camera angles and problems that
arise from them.
