Can someone explain how the 'sonic doors' work with the echo visor?
I'm in the fortress, and I've come across two doors that have
combination locks on them, and scanning them tell me that i have to
shoot them with a sonic burst to figure out the combo, but nothing I
do seems to affect the door in any way. What am I missing?
One of the doors I'm talking about is in the bottom of the large gyro
room.

You need a "Sonic Weapon" that works in conjuction with the visor. Read the
visor's Inventory entry, it will tell you. Unfortunately, you have to wait
for your next Beam weapon to open those doors. There are others that you
can open now, though, so on your way!

I hope I remember this correctly. Okay. I'm pretty sure I shot the
symbol on the door (not the lock symbols). I used the annihilator
gun, but you might be able to use any of them. I'm not sure. Anyway,
after I shot the symbol, the door played a few notes. You go to each
of the keys in the room and shoot them to find out which notes they
play, and use them to replicate the "song". As you play each correct
note, a lock on the door will change from a "locked" symbol to an
"unlocked" symbol. Unless you screw it up, in which case they all
close.
Good luck.
