Yeah. I didn't list it 'cause I don't have one. But yeah, KOF, Fatal
Fury...and Samurai Shodown was the best one.

I dunno. I know what you mean--you don't kill anyone, or even KO them, you
just "make them fall". But I get great satisfaction from a lot of those
"falls". And the items are great...there are no other games where you have
so many choices of how to kill someone...bombs, missiles, guns, ice, lava,
baseball bats...not to mention Pokemon. And knocking someone off-screen and
having them hit the 'camera' never gets old.
> really? ive never played the original SC, how did SC2 step backwards?
Actually, that's being too harsh. I shouldn't say it's going backwards.
It's really that it's the same game, after, what, 4 years?
My biggest gripe is that they killed my favorite character, Hwang. That's
always a pisser. They replaced him with his cousin or something, who is
similar but slow and awful. I guess they put him back into the US version
(I was so excited by this game, I imported) but by the time the game got
here, I was done with it.
Aside from killing Hwang and Rock, and adding Cassandra and whomever, it
seemed like they didn't do much. After years, this is the same game. Same
system, same voices, same throws...even the same kata--the Exhibition
Theater mode. I was really disappointed that nothing's changed, especially
after they killed my guy. There was no reason for it, if they weren't
changing anything else. It's like they killed him off because they couldn't
think of anything else to do...and I guess that's why they put Link,
Heihachi and Spawn in there, too.
They did put back the Weapon Master mode from Soul Blade, and I was excited
about that, too...but it turned out to be short, even struggling with
figuring out what to do from the Japanese text. It's the same for every
character, you can even switch whenever you want. In Soul Blade, there was
a different story with some different challenges for each character.
They could have ported Soul Calibur over from Dreamcast back in November
2001 for the Gamecube/Xbox launch. There is nothing in this game to justify
the long wait we had.

never really played much on the neo geo except samurai showdown and
viewpoint... but then both were awesome...

actually you are right there - even after all this time someone hitting
the screen always brings a smile to my face...
and the baseball bat is satisfying for sure - i think its got alot to do
with the hi pitched "ching" when you send someone flying that does it...

oki furry muff - having never played the original i am missing out on
the disappointment you obviously felt, but i can recognise the truth in
the points you are making - the weapon master mode was a bit lame - i
played the weapon master mode on soul blade a bit and was way more
impressed by it, the SC2 weapon master mode felt like it was tacked on
at the last minute.
who did they replace hwang with? is it that yun sung guy?

Yeah. I don't like him. I don't know if they were trying to make Hwang
weaker by designing Yunsung, or if they just wanted him to have his own
moves (Hwang's were half Xianghua and half someone else...I think).

i never played with the hwang, but the yunsung does me good - he is a
quick character good at overwhelming an opponent with a series of quick
hits, he also has some of the best jumping attacks and kicks in teh game
- and that throw move where he picks you up jumps into the air and kicks
you down onto the floor is always a crowd favourite back home...
and his best weapon looks like a slab of rotting meat too...
what more could you ask for?
