ive been outta touch with the gaming world recently, my cube may be
collapsing from over exhaustion, but the great games that ive been
playing to death for the last two years or so are starting to get tiring
now, so what should i be looking forward to?
i have heard rumour of metroid prime 2, a new zelda and resident evil 4,
but what else is there on the cube horizon?

Not rumors. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes comes out November 17th in the US
(in fact, TV commmercials for the game have just started airing, and a
humorous "Universal Bounty Hunters" T-shirt is available for those who
pre-order the game), RE4 comes out January 11, 2005, and the new Zelda
is under development and tentatively set for a 2005 release.
Given your spelling of "rumour", it would seem that you're posting from
across the pond, in which case expect MP2 and RE4 to come out shortly
after their respective US releases (no EU or UK dates have been
announced, though).

I'm still trying to catch up with what's out now. Still haven't beaten
Ikaruga or Lost Kingdoms 2.

Lost Kingdoms 2 is more of an action RPG. You fight using cards that act
either as weapons, summoned monsters or transform you into a monster and
lets you use its abilities. Baten Kaitos, coming soon from Namco, is also a
card based game, but works more like a traditional RPG...at least, as far as
combat is concerned.

Not really. Don't you remember the original Lost Kingdoms? It came out the
first year the koob was out.

In Lost Kingdoms 2 you can technically fight without cards if you first
transform into a monster. Cards are the premise of the whole thing, though.

is it turn based?

turn based card games - you may as well play poker, or the gathering
with your mates!

Lost Kingdoms 2 is real-time action. Baten Kaitos is apparently turn-based
traditional RPG with a weird battle system based around cards.

computerized magic the gathering??
::shakes head::
whatever next? RPGs where you have to flick the control stick to roll a
die and then compare the result to a big table shown on screen, and
polygonized "card" markers for explosions?

I saw your other topic re: Baldur's Gate. If you enjoy fantasy RPGs, then
watch for The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, which is released in the US
in about 10 days. It is essentially a Japanese, Final Fantasy-style RPG set
in Tolkien's Middle Earth. Looks like it will be very good!
Cheers,
Cay

wicked! ive been a big fan of LotR since i read the books as a kid - the
games of the film are ok, but nowhere near as good as a game witht he
LotR license could have been...
cheers for the heads up...
