Yep, each player needs a GBA for multiplayer.

Ok, am I missing some benefit to having the 2nd, 3rd, 4th players play
with the GBA instead of a standard controller? Because as of right now
it seems like a freaking stupid idea - I have two controllers, but no, I
have to get a GBA connector cable to have my wife play CC with me. Bah.

2-4 cannot play with standard controller. The only time you can use a
GC controller is for single player and FFCC pretty much sucks alone.
Actually, if you want your wife to play you will need TWO GBA's Once
you go multiplayer EVERYONE needs a GBA.

you use the GBA as a start menu, map, etc...this way, when you want to
do something RPG maintenance-ey, everyone else doesn't have to sit
around waiting. see Champions of Norath.

Let this be a lesson to you. Do not purchase something without doing the
research first.

Yep you need two and it's a pain in the a.s to play with them. I went ahead
and tried it cuz we already had two GBAs and liked the game type. At first
we were just gonna give up on it after we couldn't stand using the GBAs but
the game is kind of cool so we may suffer through with the GBAs. I still
think connectivity with GBAs is a bad idea if replacing controllers with
GBAs, no matter what rationalization Nintendo uses.
Nintendo is simply trying to force customers to buy more hardware...which
wouldn't bother me too much if it was even close to being as comfortable to
use as the regular controllers. As I have said before, playing a game at
home using a portable device is just plain stupid....like browsing the
Internet on a PDA.

I agree with the hardware comment. I only bought the GCN when it was only
$99.99 and got the Zelda Collector's Edition with it. The only problem is
the GBA is the same price as the Gamecube. Maybe the GBA could use a little
price drop too?

No joke. I may get a used GBA non-sp. But I will hardly use it, and even
still, its too expensive. So far I am happy playing CC single player.
Multiplayer would be cool. Damn the Man.

I can't really get into single player. Probably cuz the storyline is a
little weak. I usually just finish a dungeon or two a day. It's not like
Zelda where there's a whole story to it, but it's good that it's different.

My husband and I are having a lot of fun playing multiplayer but the GBA is
killing me...arthritis in one hand makes using it painful so we only play
one dungeon a day. I can use the regular controller for hours without too
much trouble but the GBA kills me. We are one dungeon away from finishing
year 2 so we are still near the beginning. I doubt we will buy any more
games that require the use of the GBA as a controller.

There are GBA and GBA SP accessories that clip on the back that provide "wrap
around handles" and make the entire unit more like a controller. Sometimes
they have the added benefit of including a larger battery as well so your GBA /
GBA SP can run longer. I've used one with the GBA SP with great results.

Sega Dreamcast would have solved that problem. VMU cards were great playing
2K football. Each player saw only their plays.
