I know this might be one of those shots in the dark, but I recently played
Panzer on my buds X-Box and loved it to bits. I wasn't too sure of the game,
as everyone was raving 'bout it, so I had to see for myself.
Well I am convinced, you won't believe your eyes. Yes it looks and plays
that good, but now I am craving for more. I have a GameCube and need to know
if Sega will port this must-have to my Cube. I believe the Cube can create
those beautiful visuals with ease. I heard all over that it is one of those
"exclusive" titles, but you know how exclusive they remain on X-box.
If this won't happen , can anyone recommend and alternative shooter with
more or less the same style, Pleeeez.
Thanx and happy New-Years to all

There was this beautiful dragon game by Capcom (I believe it was called
Burning Phoenix or something?) that was supposed to come to the Cube. Then
rumors came that it got cancelled. Then I read it wasn't gonna be cancelled.
Then I heard nothing of it.

Thanx for the post, the game was actually called Dead Phoenix, but was
cancelled. It looked lovely, pity Capcom canned it.

I was like so looking forward to a dragon game, as the Dragoon series is the
only reason why I still have my Saturn next to my Cube. Oh well, maybe I
should just make due with what I have for a few more years.

Personally I thought Panzer Dragoon Orta was a greatly flawed game although
not lacking some entertainment, but that editorializing aside, I wouldn't
count on the Gamecube getting a port or an original in the series.

Why do you say that? I thought PDO was one of the best games I played
this year. But then, I didn't know what to expect.

It is quite short for one. The controls are bad for "dodging" like they
make you do in some of the levels. They'd be better of not letting you move
the dragon at all. Plus it was very repetitive, just switch to the rapid
fire/homing form and hold A. Basically it was fun but a bit too difficult
(partly because of the control issue) and too short and repetitive to be
more than rental good. I have a full review if you want to see that ;) I go
into more detail.

I think you missed the point of a game like this. This game isn't about
finishing it. It's about getting the best score at the end of each
level.

Perhaps why I loathed Crazy Taxi as well?

Does the game have an ending? If so, what's the point of having an ending if
the reason for playing it isn't for winning it? Why not have it like
oldschool games like Pac Man that went on and on? Different people play
games for different reasons. Some people are much more motivated to play to
get the best scores/times or whatever. Some people prefer to play to reach
the end, hopefully to be treated to a good ending.

It does have an ending. If Chris Lee would have played it he would have
cried his eyes out for days*. The point of PDO was not to finish it as
fast as you can, but to get the best score for each level. You get more
unlockables with better scores. I can see the game be disappointing for
those games who only like to rush through games without savoring every
moment. I did that with Metroid Prime. I am not making that mistake now
as I am playing it again and loving every minute of it.
I should point out that I don't begrudge anyone for not liking a game. I
was just wondering why Sir William didn't.

Chris Lee is a huge PS2 fanboy and occasionally trolls the Xbox group.
His specialty is calling everyone a moron and a retard if they like
anything he doesn't like. He is one of the biggest fans of the Final
Fantasy games. He admitted to crying at the end of FFX. Imagine a
combination of Gamecube trolls Ice Wipe and T Bone.

Yeah. At first I thought it was a reference to Christopher Lee off Lord of
the Rings. :s

You're getting into MP finally? Cool beans!

Yes, I played the game for five or six hours on Sunday (not at once, but
through out the day). Which is something I rarely do. I just picked up
the Ice Beam before I finally forced myself to quit.
Hey, you changed your name back. I take it you got the Indy set and
watched it all weekend.
