So, is there a rechargable battery for the GBA? Something that plugs
into the battery compartment of the GBA and has a plug in adapter
to recharge it? I'm like to avoid chewing up Double-As as a rapid
pace if possible.

A set of four rechargeable AAs will be your best bet - you can have
two on charge and the other two in your gba.

That's what I've been doing right now...borrowing the
batteries from my digital camera, just wondering if there
is a better solution or if I should just pick up a few more
batteries of the same type.

I've seen rechargeable battery packs, but they aren't really worth it
as you can't use the batteries in anything else.

I had a rechargeblt pack thing but it was rubbish. Lasted about 1/4 as long
as a set of batteries...
Only advantage was that it could be used as a main adaptor for the GBA.

I got a set of high power Ni-MH 2100mAh of ebay cheap brand new, they last a
while.

I picked up the Intec model that adds a couple of 'arms' to the GBA
making it have a form factor very similar to a PlayStation controller. The
batteries fit in the arms. This works well for me because the GBA on its own
is a bit too small for my hands. This kills two birds with one stone.
It won't work well with most carrying cases since it's preferable to not
constant attach and remove the battery pack but I found a shoulder bag of
the typical corporate event giveaway sort worked well for carrying the GBA
with the battery pack, auto adapter, and a large array of games. And a pad
of paper and pens so I can pretend to pay attention in meetings.

Interesting... what kind of life span did you get with this unit?
I was set to just use rechargables, but getting unit that doubles
as handles could be nice. I'd hope with the extra space that
they have a very long life battery though.
Do you know what their website is?

The 'Wing Grip Power Pak' is the name they use.
Toys R Us is the primary outlet for a lot of their stuff. A lot of the
'starter kit' bundles come from Intec.
Some of the stuff is garbage. I received as part of GBA starter kit a
set of plastic cases for GBA games similar to the snapcase GameBoy carts
were packaged in. They're useless. The cartridges won't fit inside of them.
Great QA, guys.
Their claim of about 8 hours is accurate in my experience. This was
plenty for my purposes. If I remember correctly the cost was about $15, so
it doesn't take very long to come out ahead on cost of expendable batteries.
There is at least one other brand out producing an almost identical
product except for having differently shaped grips.

In Japan Nintendo sold exactly such a unit as a first party peripheral. It
has a nice recharger too. I've used it extensively and would recommend one.
I bought it at www.ncsx.com and they are very reliable. I've used them for
years.
