Now, if you're referring to the difference in packaging for the
different regions I think you're getting away from wanting to play a classic
of yore into fanboy sadness. The US packaging does reproduce the artwork
from the original US boxes of the 80's.
If I want more nostalgia than that I'd just buy a NES and the game for
less than $30 for the lot. I mean, if you're going to be obsessive, do it
right.

I wouldn't worry, Dekay has some perverted obsession with little boxes
rather than the games inside.

If I just wanted to play the games, I'd use an emulator. I'm a collector -
and to me, the Mini NES games are not collectable at all, as they don't
replicate the NES originals in the same way the Mini Famicom games replicate
the Famicom originals.

I own several of the games for the NES too, and I'm about to buy a Famicom and
the Famicom carts too.

I'd call you crazy but then I remember my deceased friend who acquired
all of the Nintendo 3" floppy disc games unopened and got Shigeru Miyamoto
to sign the appropriate ones. I not sure if he had the Twin Fami with the
drive but it wouldn't matter since they were to be kept pristine and sealed
forever.

I thought collectors sought after original items and not replicas? ;)

The truly obsessive collector is only getting started when they acquired
the game. The shrine must also include any promotional material from the
publisher, magazines from around the world with reviews of the game, DVD or
tapes of movies/TV where the game appeared even if it was only a
recognizable sound effect or music in a scene showing an actor pretending to
play from the POV of the TV, DVD or tapes of every episode of the animated
TV series based on the game, etc.
A collector's work is never done.

It depends what you are a collector *of*. I collect video games, and
generally don't bother with the other things you mention.
