Hi

I'm interested in purchasing an Afterburner Kit and wondered if anyone
could give me some advice as to where is the best place to get one
installed in the UK.

Ideally I would like to get one installed with the FAB dimmer chip.

Any advice would be very welcome!

Many thanks

Xyramax did mine for around ?50, they seem ok but the AB is a little dimmer
than I had expected.

In that case he'd be better off just buying a SP surely?

I just did mine myself at the same time as buying an SP for my son. I have
no previous knowledge of soldering, but I think I have done a sterling job!
No dust and only one air bubble at the very edge of the screen which is not
noticeable at all. I practiced my soldering skills on an old VGA card I had
lying around and enjoyed every minute of installing the afterburner in the
GBA.

Cost:
?14ish (I think) for afterburner from linkerworld (after conversion of
dollars into pounds)
?12 for a soldering iron and solder (low power one so it doesn't melt the
board!)

The job took me about 45 minutes and I am very pleased with the result. I
didn't install the dimmer chip or switch as I figured I wouldn't want the
light off - and I don't.

It does eat the batteries though!

Give it a go! I had little to lose as I had bought an SP at the same time.
If it all goes t*ts-up you could always use the money you saved on
installation towards buying an SP. I now have two systems which are great
for two player games.
