Just plug in a Game Boy or Game Boy Color cartridge. :)
There's a switch in the GBA's cartridge slot that's pushed in when a
GB/GBC cart is inserted; it's this switch that tells the GBA to go to
Game Boy Color mode.
If the GameShark you're describing is designed to work with either the Game
Boy or the Game Boy Color, then inserting it into the GBA's slot will make
the GBA think that a GB/GBC cart is installed.
HTH. HAND. :)

It is the GameShark that is plugged into the GBA's slot.
Then GB/GBC are inserted into the GameShark.
Running XP, setting the compatibility mode (in XP) of the GameShark software
helps, but it still errors in sending/receiving from GBA.
Folks say it that Parallel ports are just not handled the same and
compatibility mode won't help. That does seem true, still won't work.
Thanks...
