I just got Fire Emblem from the store yesterday and i have to say that
this game is great.  This game is very addicting and i never want to put it
down.  I have played for a few hours and i am still in the first part of the
game instead of almost done with it like a lot of other games are that are
out right now. Anyway this game is great and easily worth $30 i reccomend it
to everyone.  Also it sort of gives me a vibe of FF3.  That was my favorite
FF game and im glad this game sort of reminds me of it.

If two of my players get killed during the training missions is it
better for me to stop playing this game?

They come back later :)

Probably the best course of action would be to replay the training mission
until you can beat it without loss of life. The temporary 'deaths' of the
training don't stay in the 'real' game :)

Have the same opinion as you.
Great Game, always trying to get home sooner to play it...
Only problem: the dialogs [if necessary] are sometimes boring...

Don't forget that all dialogues can be completely skipped by pressing the
''start'' button. This is useful when/if you have to restart a chapter. I
always restart a chapter if one of my people are killed.

i read that the game autosaves after every turn and battle, so doesn't that
mean if someone dies, it's for good? or is this just a little quick save
that can be overridden?

Hu? Can you do that? I thought the whole deal with this game was that if
a character dies it's gone forever.
(I'm still at the training levels btw.)

Yeah, but you can turn it off and load up your saved game from the start of
the chapter.

I heard that it keeps track of how many deaths you've suffered even through
restarting, though... I only ever played the JROM, and I stopped once I got
relatively good confirmation it was coming out in English, so I don't know.

Why can't NAL hurry up and release it over here..

With regards to the save system, I think I have a problem. It's quite
confusing so please bare with me on this!

I recently completed the training section and after the 'ending'
(where it details the characters win ratio, etc) it prompts you to
save your game. I selected yes. Then it asks if you wish to continue.
I said no, and after I was back on the title screen, I turned off the
machine. However, when I turned it back on again, the save game had
vanished.

At first I thought I had a faulty cartridge, but the strange thing is
that as long as I start a battle and turn the machine off (thus
activating the 'resume' save), the game is saved fine.

I've also tried copying my chapter data to each save slot and it saves
fine, too.

It seems that the save game is getting lost inbetween battles. It's
really, really annoying as I've just finished the training section and
now because the game didn't save, I've had to go back two missions and
start again.

Anyone else had these problems??

I think the thing you're looking for is the "suspend" feature.  Save
only seems to work at the end of the chapters.  If I understand you
correctly.  I didn't discover the Suspend until I got midway through the
second major part.  You access this by pressing "a" or "b" (can't
remember which sorry) while on a section with no one on it.  One of your
menu options is SUSPEND.   This saves exactly where you are.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, but it's not the suspend save I'm having problems with. It's
the saving at the end of chapters. I complete the chapter and save,
but when I turn on the machine again, the game vanishes. It's only
save slot one that seems to be affected.

Anyways, I've returned the game and hopefully I'll be getting a
replacement soon!
