hi, i spent a good amount of time trying to get my legend of zelda: LttP
saved game offa my original cart and on to my flash cart. i copied the
256k flash area that the flash2advance linker software allows you to
copy and checked it out. the entire 256k was FF bytes all the way through.

is there a way to get save game files off of ORIGINAL carts with f2a linker?

thanks.

Y'might think so, but the GameShark rips the save in it's own format.

Virtually *all* the flash linkers allow you to save your game saves to
the PC.  Probably the best one is the ez-flash advance with usb cable.
You can find out more about it at this link:
http://www.linkerworld.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/22/products_id/30

This will let you take your game saves from the original cart (or
perhaps only if you backup the original cart and put it on the flash
card that comes with the set. - then you can backup the game saves
from the flash card)

And on top of that, you can also play hundreds of free games that are
available on the net from homebrew game maker web sites.  I will try
to see if it can actually save a saved game from an original cartridge
tomorrow (too tired now) and post the info.  *but* you can easily save
the entire game to your PC, then load it onto the blank flash card,
and then when playing the game, and saving it, you can take your saved
game and store it on your hard drive.  It's really cool.

ah i see... so when i backup the entire 64 mbit cart, the save is included
within the cart backup? i'll give it a shot in a few minutes.

Erm, not quite.  Saved info is stored seperately from the game ROM.  With my
old flash linker, there's the option to backup game or backup saver (and
then I have to choose the right SRAM bank myself).  I usually backup the
game, then the saver, and then load the ROM in an emulator to make sure it
loads the save info ok.

On this same line is it possible to move a saved game from a friends cart to
my own? I have Zelda Oracle of Seasons and was thinking of buying the cart
for myself instead of borrowing my friends but I really don't want to start
over...

Thanks.

Totally.  I copied a friend's Metroid Fusion save info so I could unlock
Metroid 1 (in Metroid Prime) before I played through Fusion myself :)

Not to be a total newbie but which products allow you to do this (I'm
assuming this is legal too).  The Gameshark product "seems" a more legal
(and inexpensive) way to do this.  I need something cheap if possible so I'm
hoping the earlier recommendation of a $10 product will work.

Thanks All,
Wendy
