Hi

Is there anywhere that still sells any kind of linker for playing roms on a
gameboy color?

I know I could use the GB bridge and a gba flash cart but I was hoping to do
it cheaper than that :)

Cheers

Unfortunately, I would think most of the older linkers which were made
for the GBC have now been discontinued.  I actually searched all over
the net for one quite some time ago and spent close to a month on it.
I settled on the GB Bridge and also the Flash 2 Advance 128M set.
Seems to work just fine.  Probably the lowest cost solution, to play
GBC games would be to buy the flash 2 advance 64Mbit set and the GB
Bridge.  The GBC games were NOT extremely large, and with a 64Mbit
cart you could fit a good number of games on even just a 64Mbit cart.

I bought the flash 2 advance 128Mbit set from
http://www.linkerworld.com and the GB Bridge from the same shop.  Both
work great and I got the items fast from them.  I find myself that
128Mbit just for the GBC games is overkill, because I have yet to fill
it up to this day, unless I put a tonne of crap on there that I won't
really be playing anyway.  So as the lowest cost alternative, get the
64Mbit flash 2 advance, and the GB Bridge as well, it's the cheapest
solution and lets you do what you want to do :)

The BG Bridge can be found here:

The 128Mbit Flash 2 Advance:

NOTE: I put the 128Mbit version link here for you because if you want
to really use it for just GBC, then 64Mbit is what you should buy, BUT
if you want to use it for GBA as well as GBC, then 64Mbit will
probably have you wishing for a larger card in no time. 128Mbit gives
you the option of enjoying both GBA games and GBC games.  There are
not many games that are larger than 128Mbit IF ANY, so worse case, you
can put at least 1 good game on the card.

64Mbit is the budget item.  Although from my link grabbing right now
to add them in here, I see that there is a special on the 128Mbit
version, so it may be beneficial to buy it if you budget allows.

If you've got money to buy a linker and all you own is a GBcolor...you need
to rethink your strategy here. Buy a GBA SP THEN go get your
linker...whack...you're all set for every type of gameboy game....wow that
was hard to rationalize.

Definately get the GBA SP, you can play all GB Color games on the GBA
SP system without any problem.

To play gameboy color roms, you would need the flash 2 advance as well
as the GB Bridge.  The Flash 2 Advance alone does not allow you to
play GB Color or regular Gameboy Roms, but together with the gb bridge
(gameboy bridge) you will be able to play all GB and GBC games on your
GBC SP using the Flash2Advance.

My personal recommendation for both items would be from
http://www.linkerworld.com  Me and my friends have done plenty of
business with them and delivery was always fast and after sale they
were helpful in explaining just how to use their product.  For
reference only, a direct link to the Flash 2 Advance and the GB Bridge
are below.  I would recommend at LEAST a 128M card, which will let you
play virtually ALL GBA Games, as well as give you plenty of space for
the GBC games as well, if that is what you want to play.

If you have money to spend, and not worried about the budget (yeah
right, we ALL are ;) ) you should go for the 256Mbit card, you could
fit like 8 GBA games on the card, or around 100 or so GBC games,
definately worth the money.

GB Bridge - This is what will let you play your GBC and GB games using
the flash 2 advance, without it, you can not play them at all.

128Mbit Flash 2 Advance set (I won't list 64M because I think it is
not worth the money - not that the price is bad, but for a bit more
you get double the space)
http://www.linkerworld.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/22/products_id/34

And if you have some extra $$$$$ then DEFINATELY go for the 256M
version, this gives you tons of space:

I am not sure if any of the other linkers let you play GBC games,
although I know ALL of them will also let you play NES games (with an
emulator of course) that you can load onto the flash card.  So it's
kinda like having 3-4 systems all in one.
