Anybody here read the reviews for N-Gage games on www.gamerankings.com ??
They are laughable, I predict that the thing will be off the market by the
middle of next year.

The latest EGM has a great review...

(off the top of my head)
In phone mode:

"Nokia calls this 'side talking'. We call it 'I look silly using this
phone'."

D-pad compares it to having a Frisbee sticking out of your head.

The games are tired ports, Sonic is a two-year-old game, and they couldn't
even manage to get that working properly.

And the best part: THEY INSULT THEIR TARGET AUDIENCE BY CALLING GBA USERS
10-YEAR-OLDS.

What *that* long .......

Yep,

All the reviews I read about the N-Gage slammed it so incredibly hard that
you would think Nintendo was paying reviewers off.  Looks like Nokia brought
it upon themself though, its almost as if they asked their design team to
come up with the worst layout possible.  I wouldn't be suprised if it
doesn't even make to market.

Besides the obvious PSP, Zodiac is looking promising though.  I'm also
*very* tempted to place an order for a Gamepark GP32.  GP32 will probably
only have a niche with the emulator community, but damn if it isn't really
cool!

Too bad the GP32 doesn't use Compact Flash media though.  If it did, I
wouldn't hesitate to order one -- along with a 1 GB CF memory card.

Considering the current marketing campaign (recently I was surprised by
a huge placard) probably is already in production and on its way to
retailers.

Though competition is always good I wouldn't mind seeing Nokia to fail,
seeing what they have come up with.

Their ads in gaming mags are geared to the immature and sex-obsessed geeks.

Car seat background, pic of the N-Gage at the bottom, and in big white
letters, "WE HAD A THREESOME IN THE BACK SEAT". I've also seen "THIS IS
WHERE I PUT THE MOVES ON MY GIRLFRIEND".

Those 'This is where...' adverts are starting to get on my nerves. Every bloody
morning on my way to work, they're on every tramstop here in Manchester.

I would like to see them fail out of sheer arrogance.

LOL

I wonder if the N-Gage comes with the games Snake, Logic and Memory...

The Gamepark GP32 has been catching my eye.  I'm very tempted to order one.
It'll probably only have it's niche with the emulation community, but I find
it to be very cool.  I wish I could see one first though, I know the specs
and all but I wonder what the quality of the actual physical manufacturing
is.  Too bad it doesn't use CF memory cards either, I have two 512M cards
for my PDA's and probably wouldn't hesitate to get a 1G card in the near
future as well.

I would like to see this handheld get an official launch in the UK. Besides it's
sheer versatility from a programming perspective, the native games available for
it look incredible, though the idea that you pay-and-download them from the net
doesn't really appeal to me at all. The inclusion of a frontlight on the
expensive version is a good idea, though I wish manufacturers would move towards
transflective screens, with the possibility of OLED displays in the future
(well, I can dream can't I!)

If you're wondering (as I see from your other post) what GP32 users think of the
machine, there's a couple of them who post on uk.games.video.gameboy (if your
newsserver carries it) and uk.games.video.misc.

I hear that.  I'd definetly put forward the extra $50USD for a frontlight.
Thanks, I'll read the threads on the UK newsgroups.

Only yesterday did I find out that the thing will be $300 USD.  Now I laugh
even harder at Nokia :)
