DS outshipping PSP by three-to-one in Japan

Matt Martin 08:57 (GMT) 15/03/2007

Five million PSP units on shelves by end of January

The Nintendo DS is outshipping Sony's PSP in Japan by almost three-to-
one.

Sony had shipped a total of five million units to Japan by the end of
January, according to SCE spokesperson Satoshi Fukuoka, reports
Bloomberg.

The latest figures from Nintendo Japan suggest the DS has shipped 14.4
million units in the region since launch in December 2004.

This week Sony's UK boss Ray Maguire confirmed that a redesigned PSP
is currently on the drawing boards, with a "smaller, lighter" handheld
to be introduced in the future.
