My son showed me that at some point in the game, he needs a 'level up' card
and a 'power-up' card. What are these? Where can we get these? Cheers!

Hmmm... That's a bit vague... What point in the game? I don't remember
*requiring* a level-up or power-up card in order to complete the game?

I think you are talking about the cards that are accessible on the map
screen (I think you press the "L" button, but I've not played my GBA for
a few months) and these have to be earned by either fighting the hammer
bros. who appear on the map from time to time, or by visiting the
toadstools on the map where you either open a box and a card pops out,
or you have to play a fruit-machine style game in order to "win" a card.

You may be able to get a better answer if you can provide more details
about what your son is trying to achieve (knowing which level he's
playing would be a good start)...

Yes, you are spot on! That 'R' button hit it! That is how he discovers such
thing. I dig some info a discovered that an e-reader hardware is required!
The game cartridge itself presents two cards one can use to swipe on the
e-reader.ands Nintendo sells other cards too! GBA has been around for a
while on his hand that I thought Wii is a much better replacement! Wii
allows some body motion so it works like an exercise toy!

OK, I'm showing how much of a n00b I am, but I didn't know about the
e-reader. To be fair though, it was never officially released in the UK.

For any other UK-based people who share in my confusion, see here:
