this is from the Wii version.
someone on gaming-age forum suggested that the Wii version might have greater draw-distance and more particle effects (i.e. snow) than the Gamecube version.
quote: "Looks really nice. I doubt the GCN version will have as significant a drawdistance or as many particle effects."
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=119548
-- however, they're both *supposed* to be the same, content-wise and graphically, aside from 16:9 widescreen mode reserved for the Wii rendition of Twilight Princess.
regardless...
..the last great game of the last generation... is almost upon us.....
Pez D Spencer - 16 Sep 2006 15:05 GMT ocarina of time was the same game when it was released on the gamecube. but, it sure looked a hell of a lot better.
playing twilight princess on the wii is probably closer to the workstation build nintendo has internally. i wouldn't be surprised if the draw distance was much better on the wii.

now that makes me think of every game's 'workstation build', that they're better the paired-down versions that run on everyone's console or computer. :/

Honestly, I think "serious gamers" are not dead center on Nintendo's radar - certainly part of the strategy, but they want to grow beyond the target demographic (look how successful they've been with the DS vs. the PSP).
Hell - people are still buying PS2's, even though the Xbox was "technically better". I picked one up finally to complement my PC gaming (where I play the most) because of the unique gameplay that was the PS2's strength (anything that interests me on Xbox, and for now X360 are mostly available on the PC).
"Unique Gameplay" seems to be what the Wii has in spades. Let's see how many of those 4 million Wii's sell after launch (at a profit on each, no less!) and we'll see what's the "hottest sh.t out there" ;)

I may accept this statement if you can find me just one example of Nintendo saying that Wii is a next generation system. I can find plenty of examples where they state quite clearly that it is not a next generation system.

Why do you even bother with consoles if you are interested only in graphics? PC games have been hi def for years, that's where most of us get our graphics kicks. Oh and you are not a serious gamer so don't try and bluff troll.

Clearly no one can ONLY be interested in graphics, but that is what makes one interested in the game(look at my others post where I explin it throughly). I got tired of upgrading my PC video card only to never have a game designed around the power of the card instead of being designed with low level cards in mind for more mass appeal. Since consoles dedicate every single piece of the system for graphics only(that is, no Windows and other software), the graphics were able to be maximized.
What did it for me was when I saw Madden on the PS2 after having played it on the PC(2005) thinking that the PC version was looking the best. When I saw that the PS2 version looked better and actually gave you time to think before making a move, I realized(once again) that PC game makers were not utilizing the power that PC's and their video cards were capable of. I got a little tired of spending $300 here and there for a PC videocard. I fianlly realized that for the price that I paid for a videocard, I could buy a console and get maximized graphical power. Besides, the 360 has a powerful PC videocard in it. I am happy. I have a HD CRT set, but I am not getting an HD LCD set because I have noticed that the LCD's are cleaner(pure digital).
PC games have been hi def for years, that's where most of us

Absolutely. It's so obvious that the gameplay mechanics (such as allowing time for players to make their move) are a function of the power of the video card and its utilisation by the games programmers. In fact, if only PC game makers would wake up and *use* the PC hardware to its full potential then we'd all get more time to think about our gaming strategies.
Why did I not see this before?

> Well, hopefully they will learn this time, but by then they >will have to join Sega... it's hardly hurt Sega. they're probably making more money now than they have since the days of the megadrive. still, i can't see nintendo going down that path any time soon, not if they will be making a profit on every Wii sold from launch, coupled with the huge success of the DS to boot.

you seem to claim to hate nintendo, yet all you talk about is nintendo.
