In an interview to be published later this week, Gardner said: "I've heard in Japan that the price is about $170, but I don't know if the price has been set in Europe yet." Gardner went on to discuss the key differences between Sony's PS3 and Nintendo's new console, saying he was confident that the Wii will find its niche in the market as consumers' 'second' console. "Nintendo has come up with a very clever strategy," Gardner said. "They've made a choice which is great for the consumer. Now we're going to have a choice whereby consumers can buy a Wii, plus one other console." Nintendo has so far declined to reveal exact details of a release date or price point for the Wii. However, the company has previously confirmed that the console will retail for less than US $250, and will launch before the end of this year - with shipments estimated to total 6 million by the end of March 2007 If it's $225 or less, I'm picking one up. $249? See, if most people buy an XBOX360 or PS3 with a Wii, the Wii sales would remain just a little lower than the XBox360 and PS3 sales put together (You have to consider Ninty "pures" if that is the correct term ;-)). So here's this giant enemy crab. Whoa! I just didn't say that... sorry. So here's this gaming industry with Nintendo in a sense siphoning off of other companies, guaranteeing that it will be 1st or 2nd with the other one hit hard. Intuition, not blind hate like some fanboys, says that Sony my just slide in third... -I got a PS3 and all I got was crabs... Even if they can do it ans still make a profit, why not price it closer to the 360-PS3 and make some extra profit? Fair enough, but even if it's $250 I'll be happy though. Because they know that it will not sell the closer it is to those real gaming machines. Also, they already know that they are selling you an overclocked GC anyway, so they don't want to beat you that much more. Guest, will you please take your Wii-jealous self back to your PS3/360 newsgroups and stay there? you will be much happier there, as you day-dream about the good old days with your has-been PS2 and soon to be overpriced flop PS3.
