My daughter just got Dogz for her GBA. We purchased through ebay as
Amazon, Gameplay etc all had long lead times. When she creates a new
game and goes into the menu to save it, it appears to save. If you turn
off the GBA and then turn it back on the Continue option comes up as not
available.

I suspect that it may be a pirated game hence why it's not working
correctly. She seems to think you have to have 3 dogs all at 30 days
before you can use this feature, although I've no idea where she got
that idea. Can anyone possibly tell me if the save option should just
work.

If I am right I'll get a refund and report the seller and she'll just
have to wait for a proper copy. TIA.

Sounds just like a pirate cart.

My son has one that is a pirate that worked in saving for a while but now
when the game is switched off all the saves are lost. I opened it to find a
battery inside and I will have to see if I can replace this.

However, your Dogz cart sounds slightly different - some GBA Roms need to be
patched before it can be copied to a blank cart to allow for the savegame
function to work. Something to do with SRam memory or something I think. I
know Dogz is one of them
