Hi,

I am going to buy a Gameboy Advance SP for my boy and I can get it a lot
cheaper from the US.
Is there a compatibility problem with respect to games purchased in either
the US or UK? Will I
be able to play UK games on a US Console?

Many thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

You will need to get the correct power cord (to recharge the internal
battery) for the voltage in your area, but game-wise, there is no region
lockout so all GB/GBA games from all places play on all GBAs.

(except that GB and GBC games from anywhere will not play on the new GBA
micro, which ONLY plays GBA games)

True, but he specifically asked about the GBA Advance SP, not the micro.

I had thought my saying "GBA" would make it standout against "GB Micro" and
"Nintendo DS", neither of which play the older GB/GBC games.

The Micro is arguably a GBA, as it only plays GBA games. As you said
"there is no region lockout so all GB/GBA games from all places play on
all GBAs", that is potentially confusing.

No. The Gameboy Micro is the Gameboy Micro. The word Advance does not
appear in its name anywhere. "GBM" and "NDS" are not "GBA" or "GBA SP".

If you are still confused, they have medication for that.

And of course someone who isn't familiar enough with the systems to know
international interoperability (and who isn't good enough with Google to
use it to find the facts regarding that issue) is going to just
understand that, in spite of both your confusing statement and
Nintendo's concerted efforts to mention that the Micro plays GBA games
while not mentioning that the Micro doesn't play anything but GBA games.

Well aren't you just an all around jackass.
