Usually it is just Achim or Uwe running laps. The real world rarely
compares to sim times, especially in road course sims. From time to
time, if they find that tooo many people are busting negative, they will
re-run the courses and set new standards.

me??? no way! Everybody and his dog would be negative in the -100
range if I had driven the reference times ;-)
As another poster already pointed out, the times were taken from the
replays provided with the game.

I'm pretty sure it's explained in the GTRank FAQ... but it's based on
the replays that come with the game.

The FAQ only mentions something about a Simbin reference lap in an Elise but
